So Jenna, please take it away!

The Future of Sex
by Jenna McCormick

Thanks to Book Lovers for hosting me! Bet that blog title caught your attention, didn’t it? Nothing like the letters SEX to turn a simple sentence into a flashing neon sign saying, in essence, “Hey! Over here, look at me!” Part of it, I think is the forbidden fruit factor. It’s like being on a diet. You tell yourself, I can’t have that slice of cheesecake. I’m not supposed to want it. What happens next? BAM! It’s all you can you can think about, the cheesecake is driving you to distraction, filling your mind with thoughts of how good it will taste, how soft and decadent it is….mmm, cheesecake.

I spend quite a bit of time thinking about cheesecake. About what it would be like to just have it whenever I want it and wondering if I would want it so badly if I could have it any old time. What if the cheesecake was good for you, if it was no longer the forbidden fruit? Of course it would still taste good, but would I be as excited to take my first forkful as I am now?

In my new erotic romance No Limits, sex is as easy to obtain as a pizza on a Friday night. Technology has advanced to such a degree that everyone is fitted with his or her own personal health guard, which when activated obliterates foreign DNA from its owner’s body. No more unplanned pregnancies, no more STD’s. Because of this marvelous invention prostitution has been legalized throughout the world so those of us not lucky enough to have a steady partner can order up some company any old time we feel the urge.

So if sex is so easy, so absolutely common place and accepted, what could be the forbidden fruit? What kind of hero would entice my heroine, Gen, to accept just one man when monogamy has gone out of style?

Why, the empathic warrior monk, of course!

Okay, perhaps that only makes sense if you live in my head, besides all the dreams of cheesecake and thoughts of futuristic shagging. But Rhys, my empath gives Gen a connection she’s never felt before. Emotional intimacy instead of just a good time. And once a body, heart and mind becomes use to that forbidden fruit, well, it’s kind of hard to imagine living without it, no matter how easy it is to get more cheesecake.

No Limits by Jenna McCormick

Available January 1, 2012 from Kensington Aphrodisia

All Genevieve Luzon wants is to be loved by one man, a seemingly impossible task in New-New York City at the start of the twenty second century. Sure, she can buy sex as easily as order a pizza on a Friday night, but finding a forever kind of love among her self-centered peers is no easy feat for the unemployed off-world vacation coordinator. When an old friend offers her the position of secret shopper to test out the male prostitutes, Gen can’t think of a good reason to refuse. Hell, if she can’t find Mr. Right, she might as well try on a sampler of Mr. Right Nows.

Yet the perks of her new position don’t compare to the strange attraction she has, not for one of the prostitutes, but a candle that seems to warm places of her she never knew existed. When a man appears out of the flame, Gen is sure she’s found the one. Rhys is an empath, made a slave by the Illustra Corporation and he’s everything Gen could ever want. Except available. Because Rhys is on a mission. One that might claim his life. He must try to free his people, consequences be damned. Now, Gen must choose between turning her back on the only man she’s ever loved and the monumental task he has set for himself. Should she risk her life fighting a war hidden from polite society against those who wish to control us all?

Is love really worth fighting for?

This is interesting. Of course, sex is legal in Holland, but for a woman to find a man, very impossible. Yes, I’ve tried once, years ago, when tipsy and lonely. Add an alien to the mix, mmm even more interesting.

Congrats with your debutnovel, and good luck!

Hello again Jenna, loving this everyday blog, its new for me and having fun. (again a shout out to my sister for showing me!) And DAMN that cheesecake looks good!!! LOL i’ve been dieting for almost a year (successfully yaaay) and have a great husband, so definately fixated on that cheesecake picture!!!

    • Jenna McCormick January 6, 2012 at 12:41 pm

That cheesecake is making my chef salad look sad in comparison!

  • Gena Robertson January 6, 2012 at 9:40 am

Oh what a great ideal setting for a book! To be able to have sex anytime, with anyone, without any repercussions…why would it be special anymore? But to find THE one that meets all of your needs, wants and desires…don’t we all search for that? And the odds of finding it … *sigh.* That’s probably why I reach for the cheesecake, lol
I can’t wait to read your book, Jenna, it sounds amazing!

Thank you for the giveaway chance!

  • Heather Cox January 6, 2012 at 9:40 am

I’m so glad I’m at work right now, sneaking in a comment cuz I have all the cheesecake I want downstairs in the bakery and im about to get me some! Who says cheesecake isnt a breakfast food? Thanks again for the entertainment! yankeedragon4 at gmail dotcom

    • Jenna McCormick January 6, 2012 at 12:44 pm

I would never say that cheesecake isn’t for breakfast. In fact when the divas and I were doing New York last June we took turn having cheesecake for breakfast!

  • Monica January 6, 2012 at 10:20 am

I’m putting No Limits on my wish list. Sounds like a fun read.

Thank you, Monica! Good luck with the giveaway!

  • Gail Hart January 6, 2012 at 12:02 pm

Sex and chocolate cheesecake – a multiorgasmic post!

As an author trying to break into category romance writing, that no unplanned pregnancies thing could seriously mess with my plotting mojo! 😉

    • Jenna McCormick January 6, 2012 at 12:46 pm

LOL, Gail, I thought the divas would appreciate this one!

And of course you have to have the shield tuned up on a regular basis or there could be shield failure!

  • Na January 6, 2012 at 12:09 pm

With the future of sex hanging in the balance I’m excited to see what sort of hero and heroine will make it meaningful. I’m rooting for Genevieve who is still seeking out love. Jenna, I’m thankful cheesecake is still around -the future is looking sweet in that sense!

  • Jenna McCormick January 6, 2012 at 12:48 pm

Na, I’m pretty sure the future wouldn’t be all that great without cheesecake, no matter how easy it was to find sex!

  • Jan January 6, 2012 at 7:42 pm

I’d go for the cheesecake over the sexy hunk.
I have to trust and be comfortable with a person before bumping uglies with them.

My partner is wonderful though. I get cheesecake and the sexy hunk (him) regulary.

  • Laurie A. Green January 6, 2012 at 8:09 pm

Hmmm, well I already have my sexy hunk, so guess I better pass on that yummy cheesecake.

[More] Congrats on the release of No Limits. 🙂

  • Sondrea January 6, 2012 at 10:50 pm

Hmm. When you put it that way, it leads to questions. So if sex were so accepted and commonplace, would people become bored with it? And if so, would some begin to abstain? Would those people then be thought of as abnormal, or freely accepted? Interesting to think about. Good article, Jenna! 🙂

  • Kaye Manro January 7, 2012 at 1:30 am

On first thought, I’d go for the hunk. Not that I don’t love cheesecake too. But the hunk does win out for me!

  • Mary Preston January 7, 2012 at 4:20 am

I’d take the cheesecake. Not that the sexy hunk is not tempting.

  • Tamsyn January 7, 2012 at 8:37 am

I’ll have both, please. If that’s not possible, I’ll choose the hunk. I’m great at making cheesecake! :o)

  • erinf1 January 7, 2012 at 8:38 am

Pooh. Tough choice. I love cheesecakes but the hunk is tempting. The bf might get testy if I bring him home 🙂

    Contests on ur release!

  • Victoria Zumbrum January 7, 2012 at 11:44 am

I will definitely choose the sexy hunk. Please enter me in contest. Tore923@aol.com

  • Irene Jackson January 7, 2012 at 2:37 pm

Am I alone in the universe because I don’t actually like cheesecake! So a real easy choice for me lol, I’ll take the hunk.

  • Maria D. January 7, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Lol, yes I think that “Sex” definitely grabs the eye:)

Good post, I really liked the part about Rhys giving Jenna something she’s never had before – emotional intimacy. I think that’s a big factor in romance and it’s what draws me to a story. Do the characters really get each other and can they trust each other.

I would choose the hunky guy…not a huge fan of cheesecake…lol

    Thanks for the giveaway

Why can’t I enjoy the cheesecake AND the beefcake? I envision a future where BOTH are good for me.

    catherinelee100[at]gmail[dot]com

  • Lindsey E January 15, 2012 at 8:33 am

I agree with Catherine 100%. I do not want to have to choose since both are something to look forward to any day of the week.
