Nightshifted (Nightshifted Trilogy, #1) by Cassie Alexander
Nursing school prepared Edie Spence for a lot of things. Burn victims? No problem. Severed limbs? Piece of cake. Vampires? No way in hell. But as the newest nurse on Y4, the secret ward hidden in the bowels of County Hospital, Edie has her hands full with every paranormal patient you can imagine—from vamps and were-things to zombies and beyond…
Edie’s just trying to learn the ropes so she can get through her latest shift unscathed. But when a vampire servant turns to dust under her watch, all hell breaks loose. Now she’s haunted by the man’s dying words—Save Anna—and before she knows it, she’s on a mission to rescue some poor girl from the undead. Which involves crashing a vampire den, falling for a zombie, and fighting for her soul. Grey’s Anatomy was never like this…

It’s time again, ladies and gents. The great new book releases are starting to pour in. Again, it’s a smattering of series old and new. As for the new? Nightshifted. Wow. The book seems like it’s been on all sorts of “Waiting On” lists for ages, and it’s been gathering lots of great early feedback. Which is wild for a debut series by a debut author, right? ^_^ At any rate, it looks like so much much fun in the ER—gives new meaning to the word “paramedic!” (Ha! Punny punny punny!)
It also looks like we’re starting to see the first trickles of what many call “beach reads.” Jill Shalvis’s latest is sure to be picked up for many a beach bag. Unbreak by Heart is a YA that’s literally about summer love. And The Jane Austen Marriage Manual looks like the perfect sunny-day book. I’m sure the trend will be even more apparent next week, when a deluge of releases is set to overtake out TBR lists.
Something new grab your attention this week? Any “beach reads” or summertime fare? Do you notice your reading trends change with the seasons?
Nightshifted is making its way to me as off yesterday (pre-ordered it ages ago) so I should have it within the next three weeks. Otherwise nothing that screams ‘buy me’ although I might check out ‘Of Poseidon’.
Yay! Still waiting on my copy, too. You gonna read immediately, or will it need to get in line?
I got some books I need to read for review, but i’m afraid I’ll sneak in Nightshifted before its turn when it arrives 😉
Ooh I been having my eye on Nightshifted for a while so going to get it once I have the chance. Also I am planning to get Vortex by Cherry soon. 🙂 I can’t wait. ^0^
Awesome, I hope you enjoy Nightshifted! And Cherry is always a solid pick. ^_^
(……..totally just realized the unintentional cherry pun. lol)
Thanks to BLI, I downloaded Nightshifted–and read it yesterday. I was a bit unsure about it at first, but ended up really enjoying it. I’ve already ordered the next in the series.
Now I’m working on Husk’s Goblin books.
Rock. On. ^___^ So so so glad you liked it.
I’m curious: what had you unsure? And then, what made you end up enjoying it?
My doubts? Hmmmm. . . mostly because I was a bit conflicted about Edie herself. Initially, she seemed somewhat unlikeable and ethically-challenged. But I ended up understanding, liking, and respecting her. I had a few other minor niggles, but it was a good, fast read. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. 🙂
My pleasure! ^_^ And I’m intrigued by the mention of Edie initially seeming “ethically challenged”…especially if it becomes somewhat understandable later on.
Next up on the TBR. can’t wait to read it. ^__^ Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it!
