Randomly Booked: Wrath from BDB

I love finding out about new series. I was persuaded to start reading the series called the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward. Everyone told me that this series was going to be amazing so I ran to start reading it. I just finished the first book and I know that reading the whole series will be lots of fun to read.

I love how the characters are so deep and you only learn who they really are as you read about them in each book. Wrath is the brother of the first book. The best way to explain it is to quote Shrek: “[the characters] are like onions (or as Donkey says cake) because they have layers”.  I think that sums it up pretty well.

There are so many different ways vampires are depicted in books. Every author has a different outlook on them and every world has its own characteristics of a typical vampire.  I read about vampires that are cold skinned and ones that have body temperature. I read about vampires that have hearts as well as those without hearts. I read about vampires that are born as vampires and others that have to be bitten. I even read about vampires that feed off of each other not off of humans. Its interesting how so many people imagine vampires so differently.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood vampires have to be born as vampires and feed off of each other not on humans. I like knowing that whenever I pick up a book about vampires I am not going to be reading the same thing over and over. It changes from author to author and that makes it a lot more interesting. Knowing that vampire books have so much adventure in them and different worlds makes me want to find out more.

A friend of mine was obsessed with vampire books and i think she still is. I couldn’t understand why she read about vampires so and every book she read was about vampires. Now that I know the variety of vampire books and I understand her curiosity and need to know more.

What type of books intrigue you or interest you the most?

Hi. Thanks for the insight into the differences among vampires depending upon the writers who write them. I, too, am one of those. My first novel is called "Dance on Fire" and it is a crossover horror/Christian novel about vampires.
As for what intrigues me, I just finished reading Pat Conroy's latest novel and it had nothing at all to do with paranormal anything!!
    Thanks again.

I love this series and how sweeping the storyline and the world created is. It just sucks you right in. I love a book that can do that, that can make you forget everything around you but the story. I like gritty and dark reads so that when there's a HEA you feel an even greater sense of satisfaction since the road to get there was so difficult.

I read to escape from reality and I find it hard to let go of reality when reading contemporary novels so I find myself most attracted to books that are very different from my own life, so that would be Urban Fantasy, SciFi, Fantasy and Historicals.

James: your welome 😛 – your first novel sounds interesting 🙂 – I don't read just paranormal either and I look for good reads all the time. 🙂

Joder: A storyline that sucks you right in is always the best 😀 – plots with lots of action and adventure are definitely worth reading and your right about it being satisfying to get to the end. 😛

Sullivan: I like books that are far from reality too and you and I are on the same page with the types of books we like to read more or less. 🙂 – I love forgetting about my problems and concerns while reading so I guess I'm really like you in that sence

Thank you for all your comments! 😀 Have a wonderful day! 😀

I could of sworn I left a comment here a day ago. Let me try again.

Honestly, I prefer shifters these days. Or books that have all kinds of paranormal beings in one story. Got a little burnt out on vampire only books a couple years ago. Though I do still follow series that I already had started.
I do like reading about all the different kinds of vampires that the authors can come up with. I like that they aren't like the old Dracula legends.
Have you read the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands? It has nano-tech as the cause of vampires. Another good take on vampires.
