Book Blurb:
When Ginny receives thirteen little blue envelopes and instructions to buy a plane ticket to London, she knows something exciting is going to happen. What Ginny doesn’t know is that she will have the adventure of her life and it will change her in more ways than one. Life and love are waiting for her across the Atlantic, and the thirteen little blue envelopes are the key to finding them in this funny, romantic, heartbreaking novel.
My Thoughts:
I had heard about this novel, and seen it around several times before, while at the book store it sparked my attention enough to buy. The cover, as well as the synopsis, really intrigued me, it sounds and looks like a cute, fun book! Right?
That’s what I thought, but I was kinda disappointed…frankly – it’s a book I don’t even know what I think about it…it was bland, the story line was original and I was excited…but it just fell, flat – for me.
Firstly, Ginny – well it seemed like we were thrown into her life half way through the story, I mean – she’s “sad”, she’s lost her aunt, and now she’s got these little blue envelopes and she’s supposed to just do whatever they say…um ok? She was to me, not “human” – I mean she’s just going through the motions, Maureen describes her as sad – but really gives very little in the way of an explanation as to WHY she is, in fact, sad. Really Ginny was unremarkable…
Really the whole story was unremarkable for me, I felt very little about the characters, and the story seemed to jump from place to place, Ginny doing whatever the envelopes say…falling in love, I guess? I don’t really know, did she fall in love – I think she did. That was another part of it I really did not get too much…I mean she was “involved” with him but there’s really no reason as to why.
I really feel like this whole review is harping on the negative, which I don’t mean to do the concept was good, I was really hoping to like it better…though I can’t say I did not like it, just I did not love it – know what I mean? It would be a fun book to read when you’re on vacation, or maybe in a reading lul.
Bottom Line – Light read, with some flaws, but over-all a good concept.
I give 13 Little Blue Envelopes 3 out of 5 bookies!
