Book Blurb:
A Most Charming and Passionate Nihilist
Adrian Alistair Rohan lost his faith, and now, a dedicated member of the depraved Heavenly Host, he loses himself in his only pleasure: the seduction and debauchery of beautiful women. Rich, charming, and devastatingly skilled in the arts of love, he never fails in his conquests, until Charlotte Spenser.
Charlotte is facing a desolate, passionless future, none of which matters to Adrian, who imagines her a toy until better prey arrives. But beneath her drab exterior, Charlotte is a woman as enchanting as she is brilliant, and, lured into Adrian’s world, soon she becomes the seducer, and he the seduced. . ..
In the House of Rohan, historical romance master and New York Times bestseller Anne Stuart transports readers to a time as dark as it is passionate and where aristocracy behaves with unthinkable abandon.
My Thoughts:
I finished this book a week ago and I’m still constantly thinking about it…Yes I loved it and yes I will re-read it. Reckless is the 2nd book in the House of Rohan trilogy. This series follows the Rohan family through three generations. The hero, Adrian *mini sigh* is the son of Elinor and Francis, the hero/heroine of Ruthless. I really enjoyed the first book and my only complaint was that there was no epilogue…the book gods heard my prayers and Reckless is perfect!
Adrian, Lord Rohan is like his father was, a member of The Heavenly Host, a group of aristocrats who gather for orgies and debaucheries of all kind. Their only goal is pleasure. Sex, gambling, drugs…you name it. Adrian is the epitome of anti-hero. He is one of the worst rakes, he is ruthless and will do anything to get what he wants. He spends the whole book ‘force-seducing’ the heroine, the whole time knowing full well that he is a bastard for doing that. Which…doesn’t stop him for doing it. lol
Charlotte is a spinster, she lives with her cousin Evangelina, a young widow who’s warming all the beds in London. Charlotte is the typical virgin heroine who think she is not pretty. She decides to attend to a Heavenly Host gathering with her cousin in order to get over her infatuation with Adrian. She will only watch and will be hidden under a robe. Of course, nothing goes as planned and she ends up stuck with Rohan. *g*
*Insert steam* As I said Adrian is a very wicked man. He is decided to bed Charlotte and won’t take no for an answer. I’m pretty sure some would scream at his behavior, but I loved it. He keeps forcing her to do what he wants. The smex scenes were very very hot and a bit shocking (Yes even for me! *g*, the good kind of shocking though)…all I’m saying is that Adrian surprised the hell out of me. I just didn’t see that coming. O_O. Reckless is very sensual and it’s even more sexy than the first book. I loved how naughty Adrian is. I don’t think I can get over MY infatuation with him anytime soon lol.
Of course there is a villain (it wouldn’t be an Anne Stuart book otherwise! lol). I don’t think it was needed but well, I’m not the one writing the book. There is also a side-story with Evangelina which I found cute and which made me smile. The characters are touching and you can’t help but want a HEA for them too. Evangelina suffered a lot in her marriage and she is trying her best to take control of her life now. Her story is heart-wrenching (or I’m overly emotional lol).
I adored this book. I’m in love with the hero and I don’t mind that he seemed to changed completely so fast. I love me some reformed rakes. At some point I wanted to slap the heroine silly (at the end yes, you’ll see when you read it lol) but I still liked her. There IS an actual ending with some kind of epilogue, I was SO happy to see there was a real ending this time. It left me smiling and happy. AND we get to see Francis and Elinor *squeee* All in all it was exactly what I wanted it to be and some more. This is my favorite so far in the series.
I give Reckless 5 Bookies (and more!)

i really can't wait to read this series!!
@Carrie If you like naughty heroes, this is for you! I can't wait to read the 3rd book Breathless. I can't believe i'd never read books by Anne Stuart before. O_o
Adrian *swoon*
I have a copy of this too, and am hoping it'll be a good read – glad to know you think so!
@Dwayne Wooot I hope you'll love it too! It's been waiting on my Ereader for months, If I'd know I'd have read it sooner lol
I have to agree with you Ruthless ended way too fast and there was no real ending to it. But Reckless had a good ending.
@Alexa Sadly from what I've heard book 3 ends quite abruptly too. =/ And since it's the end of a trilogy, I'm not sure we'll ever get a real ending. This is what keeps me from reading it right now lol
Hey Pattepoilue,
Friendly neighborhood editor here (as in Anne Stuart's editor)– sorry if you felt the ending was abrupt, but the good news is there's more to come!
Thanks to such amazing reader support, we'll be putting out a fourth House of Rohan book — SHAMELESS — in July 2011.
Talking with Krissie about it, I can already say that this one will carry the same amazingness of the first three!
Thanks for reading and loving Krissie's work–these are really special books.
All the best,
Adam
@Adam This is WONDERFUL news! I am so happy to hear that. *squeeeee* Wow I'm so happy right now. Thank you for sharing about SHAMELESS. *squeee*
