We have a whole slew of book covers and chapter excerpts up this week from anticipated releases.
Ilona Andrews has posted the cover for the 5th Kate Daniels book, Magic Slays on her blog. Is it June yet?
Maria V.Snyder has posted an excerpt from Outside in the Scifi dystopian YA which is the sequel Inside Out.
Melissa Marr is working on an adult novel, called Graveminder which is scheduled for release next June.
Lisa Kleypas, in an interview with All About Romance, has stated that there wont be any new releases next year, which suggests that her contemporary series will be pushed back until 2012.
Devon Monk’s Magic on the Hunt has a cover! It is scheduled for next April. The 6th book, Magic at the Gate was released this Tuesday!
Dear author had a great post about geo restrictions for books, the discussion inspired the site
www.lostbooksales.com which is a way for readers who are caught up with restrictions to log the books they were unable to purchase. Hopefully publishers/agents/authors can look at this as a way to remedy these problems.
It seems Agency pricing is becoming more popular in the UK. After Hachette’s announcement they would be adopting it, Penguin and HarperCollins have also announced and will be taking the same steps. Amazon has also relented to accept these new changes despite saying they wont be adopting the Agency pricing. Waterstones who also removed ebooks from Hachette have accepted a deal with HarperCollins and is in the midst of discussions with Penguin and Hachette.
However Amazon Kindle customers have lashed out saying this is a price-fixing attempt and it seems there is a backlash against this new move.
The Fleming estate has announced they will be releasing the James Bond novels in ebook format in the UK.
This little tidbit has made me a happy bunny! Producers working on a new adaptation of Jane Eyre, state that the movie is rated for PG13 due to a scene involving a very naked Mr Rochester – now I hope this can top the wet shirted Darcy swimming in a pond in the BBC adaptation!
And finally crazy, dumb and surreal moment this week. A driver was caught driving, reading his kindle, talking to his phone and reading a print book at the same time. I have noticed there is a growing trend of people driving and reading the same time.
This leads to our question of the week- Have you ever read a book in an unsual place?
If not where is your favourite place to read?

Mmm nekkid Rotchester, yes please
Not so much an unusual place as unusual combination: I always have hated knitting, so when I had to knit a scarf I learned myself to read while knitting, something that amazed my family.
SQueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Nekked Pritkin…just saying! *g* I love him so much. Love the new cover.
Please, someone tells me I'm not the only one who can't get past the fact that Kate has a French Manicure! O_O Kate…French manicure O_O O_o o_O O8O
Since I got my Ereader I read everywhere. My favorite place is in the hanging chair outside under the patio. *happy sigh* but only in the summer.
@pattepoilue I didn't notice the French Manicure….but that could be because I am still trying to figure out why the hell Kate decided to get a boob job.
I have never read while driving. I'd like to say it's because I am Way. Too. Responsible. for that kind of behavior. But it's probably just because I get carsick if I read.
I got busted all the time for reading in church. My own fault for not planning ahead – a small enough book could have hid in a hymnal. But I never thought of that.
I'm boring. I read on the subway while commuting to & from work and on my sofa.
Okay, I'll admit it, I have read while driving, but only on the long, straight empty freeways and byways in the Western US (obviously, I was alone in the car at the time). I swear, I don't do it anymore – nowadays, I can listen to my iPod or books on tape to keep from getting so bored on a long drive.
I'm very safe and haven't read in any unusal places. Mostly do my reading at home or on my daily commute.
@pattepoilue @draconismoi Finally someone seeing that too. When I saw it for the first time I was like WTF happened to her boobs? They are huge and wonderful in the center of the cover. I really don't like that they changed the cover model. Meh.
The most unusual place I read a book…huh. I can still remember reading an erotica in the tram and blushing like crazy. There was an old woman sitting on the seat in front of me and she just smiled. Was totally weird. LOL
No unusual places for reading, although I will have a paperback with me if I'm in line somewhere(like voting last week.)
Lots of news this week. Thanks. But boo-hoo on the Lisa Kleypas bit.
@Has @pattepoilue @draconismoi
I did a double take when I saw the Kate cover – I said "Did she start a new series, because that's not Kate?" I hadn't read above – just looked at the cover – So very unhappy with that cover. That and JUNE…Really aren't we due sooner…just saying..
@Has The "Allie Beckstrom"-Magic series book "Magic at the Gate" that just came out is #5 the one coming out in April is #6 – I'm reading #5 right now. =)
Lotsa great info in this post! =)
@Heather I think it's a bit late in the series to change the model. I read that she looks more like what the authors imagined…but it's a bit late. That's all I'm saying =P *sigh*
