Explore This! Paris, France

A while back, we took a look at Paris but from a slightly different view. Today, we’re going all out and doing the geeky tourist must visit list. My inspiration comes from Lindsey Kelk’s I Heart Paris. Kelk’s heroine in the novel, Angela, gets to experience Paris on an open air double decker bus. So lets put on our sundresses and pretend it’s summer in Paris. Off we go…

The Parisienne counterpart to the American icon…..
of course, the Statue of Liberty was a gift from the French
The Seine

I love Gargoyles!

The Eiffel Tower…I know, I know, I probably didn’t even need to caption this one 🙂

The Arc de Triomphe

The Louvre

The Seine

The skyline at night…it isn’t called the City of Lights (La Ville-Lumiere) for nothing

Champs Elysees
Notre Dame Cathedral (next photo also)

Pont-neuf

An interesting tidbit from the book says that most French people do not like the Eiffel Tower…they think it’s huge and ugly. I’m not sure how true this is, but for those of us that have never visited, it is absolutely a must-see! I know, for me, Paris is at the very top of my wish list and hopefully you all enjoyed our mini tour today. Vive la France!

Hehe Jackie, your post is fantastic, I don't really like Paris (gray, crowed, smelly lol) but the pics you chose are gorgeous.

What I DO like is the Eiffel Tower at night because it sparkles at certain hours. It's something to see.

An anecdote that my friends LOVE to ramble about even years afterward is that…one day I went to Paris for the Music Celebration Day and it was rainy and we were very far…and I said 'ohh look a cute little Church'. Ah it was the Notre Dame Cathedral (which of course is freaking HUGE)…they made fun of me about the little church thing for years.lol

@Caro – Darn! I should have used a night shot of the tower! I imagine it's much the same as our CN Tower, which just looks like a skinny, tall slab of concrete until they light it up at night, lol.

That's funny about the church….maybe they clouds were really low that night? Hehehe

Cute little church? Buahahahha! It's huge.

I love Paris no matter what the carzy French says. Sooooo pretty.

    Awesome post hon.

I want to go! I don't care if it's dirty or grey or if folks are rude. I still want to go get my own pretty pictures! (Thanks.)

@Susi – Thanks! I had fun with this one. I love visiting old churches….regardless of size, lol.

@LSU – I'm with you. As much as I like the virtual tours, there's total bragging right when the pics are your own 🙂

Paris, not unlike Las Vegas, is best viewed at night. Okay, it's not nearly as bad as Vegas.

I was there many, many years ago and although the food and the view were spectacular, the locals were rude especially when they realized that the bulk of my group was American (of course, having some members of said group speak in German all the time probably didn't help) and walking on the non-existent sidewalks was impossible on Sundays (when piles of vomit vie for space with dog poop). I also saw my very first arrest on the way to Sacre Coeur. Ah, Paris…

@Sheree – Oh my! At least it was memorable 😮

I have been to Vegas and I totally get what you mean. I guess that's why it's better to sleep all day and go out at night there 🙂
