We are very happy to welcome Tina Terror here to do. She’s here on Nancy Holzner‘s command to tell us what she thinks about her latest release, Hellforged. Please give our guest reviewer a warm welcome. There’s also a surprise at the end. *g*
Tina
ZawadzkiTerror (sorry, she goes by her stage name now) was caught in Boston’s zombie plague at the age of fifteen when she and her BFF Jenna skipped school to go shopping for dresses to wear to an upcoming dance. Three years later, Tina still looks and acts the same as she did at fifteen—well, except for the spongy, gray-green skin, blood-red eyes, stiffness, and superhuman strength characteristic of all zombies. As Vicky’s apprentice, Tina knows the protagonist of my Deadtown series pretty well. And she has some strong opinions on the books. Here she is with a review of
Hellforged, book 2 in the series.
So I’ll just say up front that I think Hellforged is a pretty good book. Vicky’s cool, and I love the way she charges right in and fights demons and stuff. Don’t tell Vicky, but sometimes I think of her as kind of, you know, a role model. She’s brave and she knows a lot about demons. She could use a little help with her fashion sense—she’s, like, all jeans and sweaters all the time—but what can you expect from someone her age? She’ll be thirty in a couple of years. Why is it that so many women stop wearing cute clothes after they turn twenty-five?
Anyway, Hellforged starts off with this awesome opening scene. Vicky and I are at MIT (that’s the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, if you’re not familiar with the Boston area) on a demon extermination. See, there’s this Glitch—that’s an anti-technology demon—that got into the school’s supercomputer, so the computer won’t work right. Vicky gets rid of the Glitch (of course), and I do an awesome job of dealing with this snooty norm professor who doesn’t believe in demons and tries to rip Vicky off. I may have gotten a little rough with the guy, but he deserved it. And then the story gets even better when I get the chance to audition as a back-up singer for the first-ever all-paranormal rock band, Monster Paul and the Zombie Freak Show. (Cool name, huh?)
Some problems come up, too. Something is killing Deadtown’s zombies (I mean, like making them really dead), and the norm cops don’t care. The stupid bloodbag who’s head of the police department would be happy if all us zombies just disappeared, so there’s no official investigation. At the same time Vicky’s old enemy, this really nasty Hellion, is stalking her in dreams even though it’s supposed to stay in Hell. Vicky wonders if there’s a connection between the deaths and the Hellion, and she ends up going to Wales, where her demon-fighter aunt lives, to learn how to fight a kind of demon she’s never had to deal with before.
Now, if you ask me, that’s where the story goes off track. I mean, yeah, Vicky is trying to stop demons from overrunning the demon plane and taking over the real world, but what about me? I mean, there I was, practicing for hours each day, learning songs and dance moves—do you realize how hard it is for a zombie to look good dancing?—and the book just goes on about Vicky, Vicky, Vicky. Yeah, I know, Vicky’s the narrator, but couldn’t the author have just stuck in some sections here and there about me and what I was doing back in Boston?
Okay, okay. I’m glad that Vicky spent that week in Wales, given what happens after she gets back to Boston and all. I won’t talk about that, ’cause I know you’re not supposed to put spoilers in a book review. But the climax is pretty awesome. And I’m in that part. 🙂

Good question! I'd love to see more Eve and Kristof in Kelley Armstrongs Otherword series – love the fact they're not 'good' but they are heros! 🙂
Thanks to the Book Lovers for inviting Tina and me here to help celebrate their blogoversary! I really enjoy this site.
And I've enjoyed reading all of the responses to my question so far. I agree with those who want to get inside the POV of a favorite character like Bones or Curran–those scenes are fascinating to read.
@Rob and Deborah: Juliet plays a bigger role in Bloodstone, the next book in my Deadtown series. I also have plans to write some short stories from various characters' POVs and post them on my website between now and Bloodstone's fall release. So please watch for those!
Thanks for all the comments!

I would like to see more Eric in True Blood– And I'm hoping that happens next season!
justforswag(AT)yahoo(DOT)com
Oh sure, post an impossible question. How am I supposed to pick a favorite book, movie or tv show? That is TOO HARD.
The second part of the question is easy though. Maybe I'll just go with that. Favorite secondary characters who need more face time.
Back when Dollhouse was still on the air (sniff) we needed WAY more Victor.
Kick-Ass, as a movie, would have been 150% more awesome had it been all about Hit-Girl.
In Doris Egan's Ivory trilogy I needed more Kylla. She was pretty awesome.
cass at feministdracona dot net
I would love to see more of Roarke in JD Robb's In Death series.
kissinoak at frontier dot com
I love Angie Fox's Demon Slayer series, and I think the Bike Witches need their very own series. Maybe some backstory adventures before they met up with Lizzie.
heatwave96(at)hotmail.com
I'd like to see more Castiel on Supernatural, I'm sure he's cute under that trench coat… oh, that's not what you ment? I would like to see more of what he is doing and less jumping to the boy's beck and call.
Thanks!
jason [at] jasonkivela.com
Oh gosh, thats a hard question! Can I pick a TV show that isn't running anymore? I've recently been into watching the old Alfred Hitchcock Presents series. I love Mr. Hitchcock and his sense of humor. I wish he were in cameos in that show like he did in his movies.
I would love Moonlight to come back with more Mick St. John! Love Alex MacLaughlin.
Side note: I just finished both of Nancy's book and loved them!
Wow, this is a good question. It has really stumped me. I would like to see sooo many. Not sure if I could just pick one. I would like to see more of Gilmore Girls. All of the characters from that show to be precise.
iqb99@yahoo.com
Great post, I enjoyed it. The character I'd love to see more of in movies is Captain Jack Sparrow, he's so awesome.
The character I'd love to see more of in books is Keri Arthur's Riley Jenson. The series had ended, but I loved it so and I'd love to at least see Riley in future books of the spin off series.
Barbed1951(at)aol(dot)com
Thanks for the contest!
I would like to see more fairies. There are so many kinds of fairies that they would lend themselves to lots of mischief.
dbarskey(@)hotmail.com
My answer: Dexter. Great character.
Great to read Tina's interview. I'm loving Hellforged. So far for me, Victory is still in Wales, Tina's off with Monster Paul, and I'm totally engrossed and often surprised. Yay. Can't wait to see what happens in the chapters I'll read tonight.
Sigh…..!!! It would definetly be Alexander Skarsgaards' character Eric Northman from True Blood. He warms up the screen (and quite a few hearts as well!) and books, so the more he anything the better!
Love you Tina and Vicky!
dragonmyst77@gmail.com

Hi and Happy Sunday! 🙂 Well, a book I have to read is a Pride and Prejudice sequel, so that got me thinking with this question — don't get me wrong, I love getting as much Darcy as I can, but I sure wouldn't mind people writing more sequels/prequels/retellings for the other stories. There are some, but nowhere near as many as there are for P&P. 🙂
