We are very happy to welcome Sir Christopher Ellis and Lady Rosalind LLewellyn here at Book Lovers Inc. Those two are the center of the first 2 Tudor Vampire Chronicles novels by Kate Pearce and today we got the chance to ask them anything. *g* We’re talking about the newest addition in this series, Blood of the Rose which will be released tomorrow. Please give them both a warm welcome. And stay tuned till the end because Kate also send a prize along with her two characters.
The Geeky Lover: First I hope you two don’t mind if we skip all the formalities and just keep addressing you Rosalind and Christopher?
Rosalind/Christopher: If you insist. 🙂
The Geeky Lover: What does a typical day in your life look like?
Rosalind: I spend far too much of my time having to traipse around after that Boleyn women who imagines herself to be queen. I would much rather be killing Vampires, or training with Rhys.
Christopher: (clears his throat) you mean training with me, my lady, do you not? I also have to spend a lot of my time preventing my lady from killing things that she shouldn’t.
The Geeky Lover: Today is your chance to tell the world what you really think about your creator? Do you have any juicy secrets you can share with us?
Rosalind: She seems a nice enough woman, if a little strange. In our time I fear she would be taken up as a witch what with all the muttering to herself and the strange dancing.
Christopher: She seems nice. She admires my eyes and my quick wit. She is obviously a woman of great taste and discernment.
The Geeky Lover: You both come from rather different family roots, two lines who always fought against each other. Can you give us a short rundown what it is like to be a Druid or to stand on the side of the vampires?
Rosalind: I have trained all my life to stop the Vampires from taking over this land and to protect the Tudor dynasty. It has not always been easy for me because I’m the first female Druid slayer and many of my brethren do not consider me capable of doing the job. I’ve proved them wrong so far.
Christopher: I can only admire my lady for her devotion to her cause. Due to my strange family circumstances, my reasons for protecting the Vampires are rather more complex than you might imagine. I feel honor-bound to protect those who are weak, but I fear the power of the Vampire Council and do not always believe they work for the good of all their race.
The Geeky Lover: As you just told us you should actually be enemies. But it didn’t work out that way. What do you think compelled the both of you to reach out to each other?
Rosalind: We are still enemies who have had to learn to work together. But Christopher is an honorable man and I am drawn to him despite everything I have been taught to believe in. In truth, it makes life very difficult for both of us.
Christopher: Rosalind is the only woman I will ever love. She is my soul.
The Geeky Lover: You both live in a time highly influenced by Henry VIII and even more your both actually know him. Yey, I know we are sneaky but when do you actually have the chance to get first hand royal gossip. Can you tell us a bit about him? I can imagine there is more to him than the unbreakable wish to get an heir? I heard he is a rather intelligent and handsome king. What is he really like?
Rosalind: He is the king and as such he is both charming and alarming at the same time. In my dealings with him I have sensed that if I fail him he would have no compunction in putting me to death.
Christopher: Rosalind is right. The king is all-powerful and beneath that charm I see a ruthlessness and a will to survive that rivals the most powerful of the Vampires in their prime.
The Geeky Lover: Christopher, if you should describes Rosalind in 3 words which would it be?
Christopher: Strong, loyal and loving. -also infuriating
The Geeky Lover: Rosalind, what 3 characteristics should a perfect hero have and does Christopher fit that bill?
Rosalind: Honor, loyalty and fidelity-and Christopher has all of those despite the most trying of circumstances.
The Geeky Lover: Your latest adventure will be released in the novel Blood of the Rose tomorrow. What can you already tell us about it?
Rosalind: When I return to court I find that Christopher has gotten himself tangled up with Anne and George Boleyn and I have to break it to him that they are Vampires.
Christopher: When Rosalind returns she brings her usual whirlwind of uncertainty and provocation which continues to exasperate and confound me as I try to keep her happy, and escape death.
The Geeky Lover: What was the first thing you thought when you saw Christopher again after your separation?
Rosalind: That he looked far too happy without me!
The Geeky Lover: In Blood of the Rose we meet Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII’s second wife. She doesn’t seem, to be as Katherine of Aragon. Don’t hold back on our behalf and tell us what you think about her!
Rosalind: She is a Vampire and I can’t quite imagine that Christopher hasn’t noticed. Not only is she trying to enslave the king, but she has her claws in Christopher too and I can’t have that.
Christopher: Anne and her brother George have been friends of mine for years. I cannot believe that they have risked everything for a chance at the king.
The Geeky Lover: The next book in the Tudor Vampire Chronicles, Mark of the Rose will feature Rhys. Rosalind, Rhys and you connects a life long friendship besides all this fighting you survived together. Can you tell us a bit more about him as a person?
Rosalind: Rhys is a wonderful man. It was hard to tell him that his love for me could never be returned in the way that he wished, and I think it changed him. He’s spent the last few years killing Vampires and seems to have lost the softer gentler part of him. I can only hope that his new mission to aid my cousin, Verity Llewellyn at court will help him rediscover himself and hopefully the joy of being loved. Verity is a lovely courageous woman who grew up with us both.
The Geeky Lover: Now the mean modern questions:
Which modern superhero would you compare yourself too? And if you don’t know anyone that fits you: which superpowers would you love to have?
Rosalind/Christopher: We have heard that Vampire hunters are very popular in modern times. We see ourselves as on Buffy or on the Vampire Diaries.
The Geeky Lover: If you would live in our time would you be more of a rocker or a popper, music-wise?
Rosalind/Christopher: We would definitely rock, the harder the better, although Christopher does play the lute quite beautifully.
The Geeky Lover: Iphone or Android?
Rosalind/Christopher: Our creator says iPhone because she has one. 🙂
The Geeky Lover: Could you summarize your new adventure for us twitter style(140 characters or less)?
Rosalind/Christopher:
What if all the rumors about Anne Boleyn were true & she really was a Vampire? Who’s going to kill her?
The Geeky Lover: Thanks so much for taking the time to come over.
Rosalind/Christopher: It was a pleasure, my lady. 🙂

This series sounds so interesting. Vampires set in the Tudor time. I love this period in history and combined with my love of vamps and hunters; this sounds like a series I need to read. 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway.

Rosalind, how does it feel to be a strong, beautiful woman fighting Vampires in the Tudor era? Would you like to spend a day in today's modern world?
aliasgirl at libero dot it
Hi Rosalind and Christopher, I was wanting to know if the king knows about the Anne Boelyn being a vampire . I admire you Rosalind as well it can't be easy being the first woman druid slayer.

Whats the biggest culture shock living through the Tudor period until today?
rickimc[at]aol[dot]com
I enjoyed the interview. I would like to ask Rosealind what is her favorite part of the Tudor culture?
I would love to read the books.

Great Interview! Thank you:)
I'm a sucker for good cover art. I was wondering, who's your cover art designer?
natashajennex(at)gmail.com
Wow, I still love the covers of your books. I'm still trying to match vampires and Tudors – they are the two word that I would never use in one text under normal circumstances xD But I got so excited to read it, even if I won't win this contest. I love the post, thanks =)

I have totalyy been in a hositrican with a twist phase lately. There have been so many classic books rewritten and new twists in old hostorical characters that I am loving this time in reading. And the Tudors, that show was droolworthy. I cannot wait to read this series, it sounds amazing.
Thank You.

Wonderfully fun interview! My question for Kate Pearce is — any other royal houses with a vampire influence? I feel like Napoleon must surely have one or two…
Vampires and the Tudors, holy moley groundhog a holey I cannot wait to read! This is a great concept in a series and I cannot wait to read it. thank you for coming on and sharing it with us, I had no previous idea this series was out there.

Reading mind
Sometimes it is hard to be strong when all those around you doubt your fighting abilities, but I'm lucky enough to have both Christopher and Rhys on my side.
I think I would love to live in the modern era, I believe I would qualify as one of your 'kick ass' heroines, yes?
BLH Mistress
I fear I cannot tell the king that Anne Boleyn is a Vampire because he simply would not believe me, she has him entrapped with her magic. I intend to prove beyond doubt that she is out to kill him and then I will tell the king-and hopefully live.
Ricki
From Christopher
The biggest culture shock is that everything has changed so much I cannot quite believe my eyes.I am pleased to see that Rosalind and all women are considered my equals.
debbie
I love the courtliness of the men in my time-as long as they still let me slay Vampires of course. 🙂
Natasha
That would be the awesome art dept at Penguin NAL. I gave them some ideas by sending original Tudor portraits and a few more racy images from Showtimes 'The Tudors' and they came up with the covers, which I love and really reflect the characters as well. 🙂
Audra
That would be awesome! Napoleon the Vampire! I'll have to think about that. 🙂
By the way-thanks to everyone who has left a comment so far. I appreciate it 🙂 I'll be back later 🙂
Thanks, Ms Pearce — the info abt the cover design is esp fascinating — they're just gorgeous!
Great Interview!I love the Tudor period. Especially now that includes Vampires!
I can not wait to read these books.
Thanks you!!!

What a hilarious interview! I love it. As a history lover I am thrilled that a vampire story is being told during the time of the Tudors. 18 months ago I was lucky enough to visit Hampton Court Palace during the 500th anniversary of Henry's rise to power. I think I would really enjoy this entire series!

Geishasmom73
I've visited Hampton Court many times and I set most of Blood of the Rose there-including a midnight visit to the maze and a Vampire hunt among the chimney pots 🙂
Oh my mind is blank today, I can't come up with something to ask these two lovely character guest.
Ok think think.
fair Lady Rosalind, what do you think about the modern fashion of women wearing pants?
Lol

I'm a big Tudor fan and love this time period. And stories with Tudors, vampires…wow, icing on the cake.
I can't think of a question at all….sorry. But I have the first book and LOVED it!!!

Great interview and I love the book covers. These combined my two favorite reads, historical and paranormal romance!
folksohana(at)gmail(dot)com
Thanks for the great interview, y'all! This series sounds fabulous– and very original! Plus, those covers? They are STUNNING! Just had to tell ya 🙂
justforswag(AT)yahoo(DOT)com
blodeuedd, which is Welsh!
I like the fashion to wear pants. it makes it so much easier to kill Vampires.
I am so interested in how the historical and the paranormal come together in books. I so want to read these.
Now if I could come up with an interesting question, I'd be gold. 😉
I am dying to start this series. It looks so good. I love the vampire take on the Tudors. BTW, love the covers.
iqb99@yahoo.com
I've seen several comments about your covers, and that's the first thing I thought of to remark on as well. They are all gorgeous and the newest fits right in with the beautiful rich colors.
I enjoyed the character interviews and I'm looking forward to reading Blood of the Rose, since I enjoyed Kiss of the Rose so much.

Rosalind/Christopher – will you two feature as main characters in all of the books?
Kate will the series be set only in England or will there be trips to other countries?
natalie23[at]hotmail[dot]co[dot]uk
I am a follower and email subscriber. Please enter me in contest. I would love to read this book. Tore923@aol.com
Hi Kaetrin!
Rosalind and Christopher are the main couple in the first two books and then Rhys williams takes over as the hero in book #3, although we still get to see a glimpse of Rosalind and Christopher at the beginning of the book. If I get to write more, Rhys will also be the hero of book #4 and then we'll move along to Elias Warner the Vampire 🙂
Natalie23
Most of the books are set in England, but if I get the go ahead to write book #4 which deal with Anne of Cleves, my characters will get to hop over to France-the bit that belonged to the Tudors back in the day 🙂
As a lover of all things Tudor, I must have these books. Yes, you heard right. Going to add them to my wishlist just in case.

Thanks for the great giveaway! I'm one of those that literally "judges a book by its cover" and I must say if the stories themselves are anything like the covers then these have to be some great books. I'm adding this series to my TBR list.
BornajhawkATaolDOTcom
Kate, I love the covers of your books! Did you have a lot of say in what they would look like?
throuthehaze at gmail dot com
This series sounds really good. I love vampires set in historic times, rather than in current or future worlds. If I win, I would prefer the first book in the series since I have not read it yet.
juliecookies(at)gmail.com
Rosalind and Christopher I really enjoyed your interview. Your books look fantastic and your characters are very dynamic. This series has to go on TBR pile!! The covers are also fantastic!!

I'd like to know who they were most surprised to find out was a vampire?
meredithfl at gmail dot com
I know that vampires are mentioned since Drakula but I just never imagine reading new historical novels that features vampires. It could only be fun. And I agree with the other commenters – the covers are stunning! Good job!
I love this period in history and I like vampires. I need to read these books 😉
I would like to ask Kate "Do you have a ritual when it comes to writing?"
Thanks for the giveaway and thanks for the interview.
