Today, we are heading west and getting ready to “Hang Ten”. And this is kind of exciting for me because, before today, I had never heard of La Jolla. So, why am I featuring it? Well, the inspiration for today’s locale comes from Susi Sunshine; she recommended La Jolla to me as it was the setting for Jill Sorenson’s book, Crash Into Me. With elements in the book including famous surfers, romance, and murder, it looks like this is the perfect place for it all to happen.
La Jolla, nicknamed Jewel City, is in the northwestern part of San Diego. It is called “affluent” and one look at these pics will reinforce its nickname and its desirability to the rich and famous.
I must admit, I was quite surprised by the tropical nature of La Jolla, but then again I’ve never actually been anywhere in California, having only experienced it on TV. This definitely looks like an awesome place to visit. Can someone pass me my sunscreen?
This place looks beautiful. I'll be making my first trip to San Diego this July for Comic Con and I think I'll be stopping by here to take a look around. Thanks for the post!!
I was born in San Diego County. La Jolla is pretty but those pictures don't look like it ever looked to me. BTW… Blacks Beach is down there too. Nude beach…lol. And also the gliders run off the cliffs in that area (Torrey Pines). THAT is pretty spectacular to watch! There are also caves below you can get to with a canoe.
Maybe I am just jaded 'cause this is where I am from? LOL.
@Paranormal Haven – You'll have to let us know if it lives up to these images 🙂 Have a great time!
@Books and Bane – See? Now I'm picturing nude gliders 😮
I don't think we appreciate our own hometowns enough sometimes…we're always trying to escape to other vacation places, lol.
I lived in this area for a little bit. It really is beautiful.
I was born in La Jolla, but never lived there. I lived in Encinitas and Oceanside, both really nice towns. La Jolla was a little to expensive for my family, but had a great hospital – which is why I was born there.
You've shared some postcard-perfect pictures. Those sunset shots are especially gorgeous. Nice choice. Thanks for brightening my Monday.
WOW!! I'm most impressed with the photography. The images are truly stunning.

Want that so much. And a nice hunky surfer boy. *dreams*
So many amazing-looking places on these posts. Makes me want to pack up and travel the world! 🙂
@Kelsey – Lucky you! Must have been hard to leave paradise…
@Barbara – A claim to fame, of sorts, lol. The whole "location, location, location" thing just looks expensive!
@LSU – Thanks! I only wish I could take credit for the pics, alas, they are not mine 🙁
@marybelle – You just wanna jump in there, right? Again, not my images, though…
@Susi – Did it meet your expectations? Sorry, no hot surfer hunk pics though.
@Chelsea – I know, right? I've got my passport with me at all times now, just in case of a lottery win *g*
