Today we are heading States side, to visit New Jersey in all its mutli-facted character. I’ve had a few books cross my path recently that take place in Jersey, so I thought it would be neat to take a look at the landscape. “What books?” you might ask…well, I have recently given Holly Black’s Red Glove rave reviews and of course, Snooki’s A Shore Thing is out there on the shelves too.
So here’s a state wide look at some of the sights you might find on a trip to New York’s neighbour.
I find that sometimes New Jersey is another of those place that tends to get a bad rap. But whether it’s a con gone bad in Atlantic City (Red Glove), a group of friends partying through their youth on “The Shore”, or a brilliant doctor saving lives every week (House), Jersey is full of diversity, and that makes it a great city to feature in a story.
Wow, I'm from Jersey, but it's pretty rare to actually hear non-Jerseyites say anything nice about it. Thanks for the lovely photos. I now live on the West Coast, but I miss the Jersey Shore.
What beautiful photos…except for the Jersey Shore cast.
When I hear New Jersey in regards to books, I always think of Stephanie Plum, Joe Morelli and Ranger. I guess I've been reading Evanovich too long!
Nice pics of Jersey! Of course, I don't think I've ever seen NJ that nice before, mostly the traffic and the slightly chemical-ly smell on the NJ Turnpike. I have many friends from there but they didn't stay. Like JenM, they moved to CA or somewhere else.
@JenM – I always pick the nice pictures 🙂 The stereotypes associated with Jersey just seem to get perpetuated but it has to have an equally good side, I'm sure.
@LSUReader – I forgot about Plum! I have a couple of her books too. Sorry about the JS cast, but I just had to, lol.
@Sheree – I'm thinking these images were taken very early or very late, lol. Am I right in thinking the chemical smell is from New York industry? Seems to me I heard that somewhere. Poor Jersey!
