Welcome to this week’s news post! Got some great goodies, like long-awaited covers and upcoming titles, but also some sad news about some beloved authors.
Sadly the start of this week, news broke about the serious illness that author L.A Banks aka
Leslie Esdaile Banks is facing. She has been diagnosed with late stage adrenal cancer. I know there is a couple of auctions being held to raise money, but her family and friends have posted up
a donations page to help the costs of her rising medical bills. When I hear the deets about the auctions – I will post them here in the next news post.
I would also like to say that everyone here at BLI – is sending the best of our love and thoughts to Leslie and her family!
More sad news,
Sir Terry Prachett who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease a few years back has stated that he is going to commence the application for assisted suicide at a clinic in Switzerland. He has already received the consent forms to start the process. However he has spoken that although he has the forms, he may not necessarily go through with the process, but since filming a documentary about assisted suicide he has been open to the ideas.
The spammers – they iz heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeee:
Spammers have discovered a new outlet and this time it’s with self published books via amazon kindle. I suspected this would be truly a moneymaking scheme, for these pesky blighters, because of the ease of publishing an ebook on their platform. There is a growing deluged of fake books or even worse scraped ones (which is pirated books sold under a new name/author) and sold for 99 cents. Smashwords, and other platforms that published indie ebooks, haven’t had the same difficulties that Amazon is tackling but that may be due to the fact that the Kindle is the most easiest and the most popular format right now.
There is definitely something mysterious and percolating in the land of Potterdom, or should I say Pottermore- A mysterious new website and a vid and a twitter account
@Pottermore appeared yesterday. It has definitely got the net buzzing on what J.K Rowling has up sleeve.
Here is the link to the vid and here’s the link to the mysterious site
http://www.pottermore.com/ – my bet its probably an interactive enclyopedia or an online game!
OMG OMG OMG WE HAZ THE COVER *drum roll*
Alien Proliferation!!! I love these covers!
Marjorie M. Liu has also posted her long awaited, The Mortal Bone
Nightshade by Andrea Cremer has a new cover for its Paperback release which is out later this summer!
Doesn’t this look intriguing? This is the new Courtney King Walker cover: On the Fringe
And last but not least! We have the new Jaci Burton cover for Taking a Shot
So what do you think Pottermore is going to be about?
And what do you think about the ebook Kindle spam?

Man. What an absolutely bittersweet edition this week. So much to be excited for, and yet so much to be sad about. Gah!
Notice the woman on THE MORTAL BONE? Yep, it's Ewa da Cruz again!
Very sad author news.
I'm intrigued about the Harry Potter mystery.
ZOMG – those are ice skates – is Jaci Burton's next book a hockey romance? *fingers crossed*
@Sullivan McPig – I love the covers for this series!
@Alisha – it certainly us 🙁 When I read the news about those authors I was saddened not good especially with the recent deaths of other high profile authors.
@Sheree She really stands out and she's GORGEOUS!
@Patti – If a book cover can give orgasms to your retinas? This series can def do it. Love the ripped muscly mantitty covers. Its a work of beauty 😀
I can't believe that spam has hit the kindle! How sad that even that is being ruined.
Thanks for this round up
I had a feeling it might because of the ease to upload a book for free. Spammers would probably illegally scrape free fiction online or worse published pirated copies. 😛
I hope Amazon does something about it.
