Welcome to this week’s news post and we have some goodies with upcoming clips and teaser posters from Breaking Dawn and The Hunger Games. There is also some interesting developments with Kobo who is entering the realm of publishing – they are definitely notching several arrows to compete with Amazon lately.
But first up,
Kobo has announced they will be moving into publishing, it is not clear if it is just offering authors a way to self publish their work, but according to this news article it seems they will be looking into editing books and distributing them via their site. I think this is a pretty savvy move on their part.
I posted news that there was a delay that Amazon’s aquisition of The Book Depository has been delayed, well it looks like
it has gotten the green light from the OFT (The Office of Fair Trading) – however it seems this news has upset The Book Seller Association who have placed complaints about this move. I just hope The Book Depository’s service does not diminish in any way.
This week though, has been full of major announcements and developments of popular books being picked up for the big and small screen treatment as well as tantalizing tidbits from Breaking Dawn and The Hunger Games.
Producer Brian Grazer has stated that there is still life in the long delayed major movie and tv series adaptation of The Dark Tower series, although the television series was originally developed for NBC, earlier this year plans stalled. Now it looks like HBO may be taking the reigns although plans are pretty tentative. Ron Howard will be directing the movie instalments as well as producing although there is no backer yet since Universal/NBC has pulled out. I think this is fantastic news and HBO is a better fit than NBC but for more info

Okay I have to admit – I CAN’T WAIT for the alien baby birth scene in Breaking Dawn and Summit has released teaser clips and trailers in buildup for the November release of the first part of the adaptation.

And a clip where Bella realises she’s pregnant! Just watch the epic scene here!
And finally –
The CW has announced they have picked up two books to adapt to a potential television series. First up, Unearthly by Cynthia Hand. I really liked this book, so I hope they do it justice. Unearthly tells of the tale of a young girl who discovers she’s part angel and is caught up in a fight with dark angels and a foretold destiny.
And now for upcoming books!
Linda Robertson’s new book, Wicked Circle has a cover!
I love Meredith Duran’s books because they are lushly romantic with real depth but her new one looks GORGEOUS as well as fantastic! Me WANTZ!
Glittering court socialites and underworld cutpurses agree: Adrian Ferrers, Earl of Rivenham, is the most dangerous man in London. Rivenham will let nothing—not the deepening shadow of war; not the growing darkness within him—interfere with his ambition to restore his family to its former glory. But when tasked by the king to uncover a traitor, he discovers a conspiracy—and a woman whose courage awakens terrible temptations. To save her is to risk everything. To love her might cost his life.
Lady Sarah Percy knows that Rivenham is the devil in beautiful disguise—and that the dark attraction between them is as dangerous as the nightmare in which her family is trapped. But when war breaks out, she has no choice but to place her trust in her dearest enemy—and hope that love does not become the weapon that destroys them both…
We also have the new Sherry Thomas’ Beguiling the Beauty

For in reality, the “baroness” is Venetia Easterbrook—a proper young widow who had her own vengeful reasons for instigating an affair with the duke. But the plan has backfired. Venetia has fallen in love with the man she despised—and there’s no telling what might happen when she is finally unmasked…
And we also have Moria Rogers upcoming Hunter’s Prey – the cover is totally lickable! And Hammer Down!
