When a man with mint-green eyes steps from a lake and offers to rescue Danii’s dog in exchange for three days of total obedience, it’s obvious he must be either joking or crazy. And, being a police officer, she knows how to handle the crazies.
But when it comes to Heketoro, she’s the one being handled. Each day their lovemaking becomes wilder and Danii discovers exactly how far this man can take her. Though the tattoos drawing themselves on his body make it clear he’s not quite human, to Danii what’s more important is their burgeoning love for each other. An ancient curse prevents Heketoro from returning to his world. With one last ritual of love needed to break this curse, Heketoro’s enemies return and threaten to destroy him by using his only weakness — Danii. Will love, or their enemies, triumph?
My Thoughts:
Danii takes her little cocker spaniel “Killer” and the neighbor’s dalmatian for a walk around the lake near her home. When she accidentally lets go of the dalmatian, said dog decides to go for a swim in the mossy lake and gets trapped on the island that sits in the middle of the lake. Danii may be a tough cop but her Achilles heel getting into the lake, she is afraid of drowning. As if from nowhere, a man appears, introduces himself as Heketoro and offers his help with a proviso or a gift as he calls it. Heketoro wants Danii to do as he bids for three days. She doesn’t believe he is serious and does agree when it’s evident she isn’t going to be able to rescue the dog without his assistance. Once the dog is rescued Heketoro makes it clear to Danii just how serious he is and then disappears. There was a mystical, magical quality surrounding this man and she half convinces herself that he was a figment of her imagination. Then there is the fact that a man looking almost identical to Heketoro has in her erotic dreams for some time.
Danii is quite lonely, her brother who she was very close to was with the Special Forces overseas and has been missing in action for months. She believes he has been killed. She has a sister who lives in Europe but Danii never hears from her. Her work is demanding and emotionally draining. Danii is comfortable with her sexuality and tends to pick men who she can dominate, and keeps her liaisons short term. Then Heketoro turns up in her yard, intent on collecting his gift.
Three Days of Dominance is a smoking, hot, read. Heketoro is a water fae, a very sexual being, he has been bound to the lake for the past century waiting for the right woman to help him gain his freedom and return to his people. An ancient sexual ritual must be completed for Heketoro to go free. Heketoro’s time is running out, Danii is his last chance.
Cari Silverwood is an imaginative author and writes vivid descriptions using very sensual prose. Danii and Heketoro’s sexual exploits are detailed and as the title of the book indicates, this is a story about a dominate/submissive relationship. Heketoro, nurtures Danii’s submissive nature allowing her to step further outside her comfort zone then she ever imagined possible. There are scenes of bondage and the inventive Heketoro uses all sorts indigenous flora to tie Danii up and have his way with her. Danii finds herself falling for her beautiful fae lover.
Ms. Silverwood captured my attention and kept me turning the pages to find out what would become of Danii and Heketoro. The story has an almost whimsical quality that enhanced the sensuality of their romance. They face significant danger in embracing the magics involved in freeing Heketoro. The author does pen a HEA for Danii and Heketoro, but it certainly is unconventional. If you enjoy a sexually explicit fantasy erotic romance you may like to give, Three Days of Dominance a try. 🙂
