On the Book Lover’s Shelves: The Winged Lover

Good afternoon fellow Book Lovers…

Today I am here to share with you the current state of my bookshelves.

To start with I will give you an overview of the entire thing:

As you can see, I only have one bookshelf 🙁 But I have managed to triple stack in most places. The top shelf has reference books, review books and huge series that would make my TBR wall far to big. Above that (couldn’t fit it into the photo) are my accounting books and the only book in the world that I want to burn….the Australian Tax Guide.

Next is the favourites shelf, all of my favourite books and favourite covers go here.

Third shelf from the top houses Harry Potter, Lemony Snicket and Robin Hobb, three masters of writing that I couldn’t fit on the favourites shelf…but they were my childhood favourites.

Fourth down is the Horrible Histories magazine collection plus various two and three star books…if I were actually willing to part with books (even those I hate) they would be in great danger (not the Horrible Histories of course…they’re hilarious).

Bottom shelf are books that I have considered getting rid of..but still haven’t. My scrapbook that I no longer fill in and some tarot stuff that I don’t use regularly…seeing as this shelf is behind my book wall..it doesn’t get much use.

Then we have the book wall at the bottom…that is my TBR pile.

So, first the top shelf. Review books on the right, reference books on the left and complete series in the middle. I really need to tackle that review pile…

Next, an in depth look at the favourites shelf. Here you will find authors like Jeaniene Frost off to the right, Jennifer Echols on the left, my Sookie Stackhouse and Vampire Academy books are up the back. At the front there is Karen Marie Moning and Laurell K Hamilton, as well as Molly Harper and Nicole Peeler.

This is a deeper look at the left side of the favourites shelf, behind the Molly Harper books is the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Hush Hush and Graceling are also there as is Forbidden. I don’t think I’d class Forbidden as a favourite, but it is a five star book and was very well written, so I feel it deserves its place there.

On this side of the favourites shelf we find a stack of Jeaniene Frost and also a book called Next of Kin by John Boyne (just behind the Laurell K Hamilton stack) this is probably one of my favourite books of all time

.

On the third shelf we have Harry Potter (yeay!) up in the back right corner and Robin Hobb just in front of that. The rest of this shelf isn’t too noteworthy though, I have just realised how many werewolf books are on this shelf actually…compared to the favourites shelf which houses vampires and magic. Coincidence?

This is a shelf for all the books that I need to keep out of the way…the only reason I really wanted to show you was the awesomeness that is the Horrible Histories! I love those magazines 😀

And here is my pride and joy, the book wall. All of my TBR books aranged into a sturdy wall. I can literally pull any book out of there and the wall will still stand. There are currently about 70 books that make up that wall.

So there you have it, my shelf as it currently stands in all its glory. If any one is wondering, yes that shelf is inside my wardrobe, because my mum “doesn’t want any books on show”. That book wall is the bane of her existence 🙂

Hope you like.

I have a little cupboard full of DVDs lol but there’s other stuff in there as well PC games and such….always running out of space everywhere hehe

Your mother does not want books in plain sight? In your own bedroom? That is sad. Just dream of living on your own, with a whole wall of bookshelves in the livingroom. Would she still visit you? Yay for the LKH books!

yeah, probably because she knows that if I have books on show they’ll quickly threaten to take over the room, i plan to have a library when I move into my own place 🙂

wow, hehe. I thought I was the only one having problems with storage space for books! I only have two bookshelves on my room but they aren’t enough. Right now I’m only keeping favorite books, and I’m reading A LOT of ebooks. If not, I wouldn’t have space for the bed, hehe.

One day I’ll have a big house with a room only for books!

yeah I’ve been reading more and more ebooks lately but I really don’t like them…because I can’t put them on my shelf! I just keep rearranging and rearranging, all of my accounting things used to be on my shelves but they got moved…bingo! more space 🙂

Lol I love that you have a TBR wall. I would have a wall taller than me if I did that though.

    • Amanda January 27, 2012 at 2:31 am

wow, you must have a lot of tbr books! after saying that I could pull any book out of that wall…it fell over this morning LOL!!!

My mom was the same way. I cleaned out a full size dresser and filled it with books. Took her 4 years to find my stash. 🙂

great idea! I am thinking of doing that with my end cupboard…it is currently the “present cupboard” full of stuff for regifting hehe…it may soon go through a transformation

I actually have more than a few shelves of books, my hubby and I share a small room full of bookshelves! I really need to sort the out….one day. :o)

I’ve got a few bookshelves and I have them double stacked in the back of the books that look all nice and neat up front. lol I ran out of floor room so I started buying wall hanging bookshelves and corner wall hanging book shelves. lol

I have to confess that I keep my TBR pile inside a wardrobe as well! As the pile is messy and overstacked it does keep the flat looking tidier…depending on how recently I’ve cleaned! 🙂

Sounds like you have a great organization there. 🙂 And some amazing books! Thank you for sharing your shelves
