How are you my fellow Book Lovers? How was this week for you? Any great books you read and want to share? Mine was a really slow as far as reading is concerned week. Too slow but I kind of needed a small break 🙂
This week there aren’t that many releases but still, there are a couple of books we can’t help but drool over, no news here!
So, let’s start:
Marlene and Alisha: A Patch of Darkness by Yolanda Sfetsos
In a perfect world, Sierra Fox would have stayed away from the Council she left years ago. But in this world—where spirits have the right to walk among the living—it’s her job to round up troublesome spooks and bring them before that very same Council.
Though her desk is piled high with open cases, she can’t resist an anonymous summons to a mysterious late-night meeting with a bunch of other hunters, each of whom seems to have a unique specialty. The news is dire: something is tearing at the fabric of the universe. If the hunters can’t find who or why in time, something’s going to give in a very messy way.
As current cases, family secrets, new clues and her tangled love life slowly wind themselves into an impossible knot, Sierra finds herself the target of a power-sucking duo intent on stealing her mojo. And realizing she holds the key to the last hope of sealing the widening rift.
Product Warnings: Spook catching: may contain traces of ectoplasm and otherworldly nasties. Not recommended for those with allergies to ghosts, demons, and with boyfriends who think your power is theirs. While reading, avoid dark patches and stay to the light.
Marlene: Patch of Darkness by Yolanda Sfetsos is on my TBR pile. I’ve been meaning to try something by her, and this is the first book in a series, so it’s a good place to jump in!
Alisha: I was immediately intrigued by the premise of this series opener. The protagonist sounds like a female Ghostbuster! ^_^ And it looks like there’s plenty of madness and mayhem to keep the entertainment factor high. I’m a huge fan of kick-butt heroines, and Sierra Fox will most certainly fit the bill.
Anna: Guarding Jess by Shannon Curtis
Jessica Pennington’s work as an etiquette coach requires her to be polite and proper at all times, especially now that she has a book coming out. The only thing that rattles her reserve is the increasingly violent emails and texts from her persistent stalker. With the book launch in jeopardy, she reluctantly hires a bodyguard.
Noah Samuels hates stuck-up, prim people like Jessica. He’s more the blunt, straightforward type. But to advance up the ranks at McCormack Security, he has to take the high-profile assignment. After a near miss on his first day on the job, Noah realizes that the stalker isn’t just hype cooked up to sell books-the threat is real.
As the stalker escalates from letters to letter bombs, Noah sees a vulnerable side of Jessica that rouses more than just his protective instincts. But can she let down her guard long enough to trust Noah before it’s too late?
As soon as I read this premise I just knew I had to read this one! After all, most of Carina Press’s releases I have read, disn’t disappoint me in the least.
What about you Book Lovers? Which are your Sunday Cravings for this week?
I kind of just crave chocolate 😉
I just finished the most awesom sci fi book I have read. Jean Johnson – Theirs not to reason why 1 – A soldier’s duty. Review will be posted tomorrow. And now I am craving the second book, which will be released in August.
This week’s been slow too, but I’m finally reading Naked In Death by JD Robb, which is really good 🙂
There aren’t really any books that I desperately want at the moment, but I’ve made a list and there definitely will be in a couple of weeks.
A patch of darkness sounds good I didn’t know this one but now I really need to check it. thank you!
I’ve been reading (or rereading) some old Laura Kinsale and Deborah Hale books.
I’ve also been reading a lot of m/m (JL Merrow’s Wight Mischief and Dulce et Decorum Est, LA Witt’s A Chip in His Shoulder and Noble Metals). Right now, I’m reading Jordan Castillo Price’s Magic Mansion. Normally, I really like JCP, but I’m having a hard time getting into this one despite the interesting concept. I don’t know if it’s just because I’m in a blah mood or if it’s because of the magicians. (I don’t really like magicians. They’re just a step above clowns on the creepy ladder, IMO.)
