Welcome to this week’s edition of Bookish news! This week has been chock-full of author and new books updates from Lisa Kleypas’ new Travis book to book covers being unveiled from JR Ward and Anne Bishop!

First up this week started off with the news that one of the books written by author Lorelei James was plagiarized by fanfic writer called Alison Gilmore. Although she has changed her name online and pretended it is another who shares the same name who was the culprit. Blogger Limecello details the crazy saga which happened last weekend in her fantastic post here.

Penguin has launched a new scheme where readers called First To Read which allows early access to arc and excerpts to review or to highlight in social media and in return people can gain points. For more information and join in the scheme click here.

Fifty Shades of Grey movie has a director! E.L James tweeted the announcement which Deadline Hollywood picked up soon after with the chosen director who is Sam Taylor-Johnson. Despite the high profile nature of the project and names being attached which ranged from Gus Van Sant to Darren Aronofsky it has gone to a more unknown entity who has only directed one feature, but it is refreshing to note that it is female director and it will be interesting to see how the movie fares. No news of casting yet although there is rumours that Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who is Sam Taylor-Johnson’s husband) could be attached to star as Christian.

News in Brief:

A tweeter has stated on twitter that Lisa Kleypas’ new book wont be a Friday Harbor book but will be a Travis one which will feature the long anticipated Joe Travis’ story. There is no further details but on Lisa Kleypas’ Facebook header hints of this surprise and that preorder pages for Lightning Bay has disappeared on sites like Amazon and The Book Depository.

Veronica Roth will be releasing 4 ebook Divergent short stories which will be in POV of Four – the stories will be released in ebook format and just before the last book, Allegiance is published which will come out a month after.  Lionsgate has also released stills from the upcoming adaptation which is slated for next Spring.

Ann Aguirre has posted the first chapter excerpt from her Grimspace spinnoff – Perdition.

One simple lesson in seduction between two friends can turn into so much more…

Despite her outgoing demeanor, Olivia is painfully insecure around the opposite sex—usually, she can’t get up the nerve to approach guys she’s interested in. But moving to Edinburgh has given her a new start, and, after she develops a crush on a sexy postgrad, she decides it’s time to push past her fears and go after what she wants.

Nate Sawyer is a gorgeous player who never commits, but to his close friends, he’s as loyal as they come. So when Olivia turns to him with her relationship woes, he offers to instruct her in the art of flirting and to help her become more sexually confident.

The friendly education in seduction soon grows into an intense and hot romance. But then Nate’s past and commitment issues rear their ugly heads, and Olivia is left broken-hearted. When Nate realizes he’s made the biggest mistake of his life, he will have to work harder than he ever has before to entice his best friend into falling back in love with him—or he may lose her forever…

I’m wondering if Lisa Kleypas’ is working on a historical romance.

    Interesting news on Kleypas.

Plagiarism disgusts me. What’s wrong with folks who don’t know they shouldn’t steal from others?

I am a big Kleypas fan, but just not of her contemporary books. So I will probably buy it and never read it. Totally not interested in 50 shades news. I do look forward to both the new JR Ward and Anne Bishop, and love the covers! I want a poster sized one for my spare bedroom!

Well, fellow Book Lovers, are any of you in on this Penguin thing? It seems like a publisher specific NetGalley.

Dang. Read that plagiarism post. I realize that some plagiarists are just in it for the money, but it seems a lot of them have a serious case of the crazies.

Bought my first Samantha Young book today, I’m glad there are plenty more to look forward to if I enjoy it.

Plagiarism, don’t they know better? Authors trying to cheat another author???
    I’m afraid I don’t know Aaron Taylor-Johnson at all so I googled him,still don’t know him.

All I’m going to say on this is that JR Ward has sent my ocd tingling with the absence of lover in the latest instalment of this series…
