Title: Caged Warrior
Author: Lindsey Piper
Series: Dragon Kings, #1
Genre: paranormal romance
Release date: June 25, 2013 by Pocket Books
Description:
Ten years ago, Audrey MacLaren chose to marry her human lover, making her an exile from the Dragon Kings, an ancient race of demons once worshiped as earthly gods. Audrey and her husband managed to conceive, and their son is the first natural-born Dragon King in a generation—which makes him irresistible to the sadistic scientist whose mafia-funded technology allows demon procreation. In the year since her husband was murdered, Audrey and her little boy have endured hideous experiments.
Shackled with a collar and bound for life, Leto Garnis is a Cage warrior. Only through combat can Dragon Kings earn the privilege of conceiving children. Leto uses his superhuman speed and reflexes to secure the right for his two sisters to start families. After torture reveals Audrey’s astonishing pyrokenesis, she is sent to fight in the Cages. If she survives a year, she will be reunited with her son. Leto is charged with her training. Initially, he has no sympathy for her plight. But if natural conception is possible, what has he been fighting for? As enemies, sparring partners, lovers, and eventual allies, Leto and Audrey learn that in a violent underground world, love is the only prize worth winning.

. . .
Noticing things coming in related pairs on this week’s list. Things like the book Weather Witch (a dystopian YA) sitting next to Witch Bound (a PNR); The Hunter (featuring a Scottish warrior looking for love) sitting next to The Loner (featuring a cowboy looking for love); The Lost Sun and The Lost Soul; the women’s lit called Hidden and the YA paranormal called Hidden; the dark and broody After Dark next to the dark and broody After Daybreak. All signs point to conspiracy (that is the most likely explanation, after all), but i guess it could be a coincidence. One big, big coincidence…
^_^
(And by the way, in case you were curious: Yep, that’s a book called Second Honeymoon with a suspiciously romance-like cover…written by James Patterson of Alex Cross fame…but nope, it’s not definitely not what it looks like. The balance of universe is once again secure.)
. . .
Conspiracies aside, does anything go to the top of your TBR pile this week?
Hmm… I’ll have to investigate some of these titles.
Indeed! In most cases, the synopsis was the real hook of intrigue.
So many great books! On their way home are: Stephanie Laurens, Kevin Hearne and Maya Banks! And I have to find the new Jennifer Estep story somewhere besides Amazon …
And there are many more books on my wishlist … all those series just keep adding books before I have a chance to start them …
Tops on my list is Julie Anne Long’s newest, It Happened One Midnight, which releases today.
Lindsey Piper’s book sounds interesting.
The Hearne book is at the top of my list, but it has a lot of company this week.
You know, I never noticed that you listed these books in alpha order by title until I saw that there were two books called Hidden. I’m so observant!
