Title: Inferno
Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon
Series: Chronicles of Nick, #4
Genre: urban fantasy (YA)
Release date: April 9, 2013 by St. Martin’s Griffin
Description:
The heat is on, and a new threat to humanity has risen…
Nick has his driver’s license and he’s not afraid to use it. But turning sixteen isn’t what he thought it would be. While other boys his age are worried about prom dates and applying for college, Nick is neck deep in enemies out to stop him from living another day. No longer sure if he can trust anyone, his only ally seems to be the one person he’s been told will ultimately kill him.
But life spent serving the undead is anything except ordinary. And those out to get him have summoned an ancient force so powerful even the gods fear it. As Nick learns to command and control the elements, the one he must master in order to combat his latest foe is the one most likely to destroy him. As the old proverb goes, fire knows nothing of mercy, and if Nick is to survive this latest round, he will have to sacrifice a part of himself. However, the best sacrifice is seldom the sanest move. Sometimes it’s the one that leaves your enemies confused, and you even more so.
And sometimes, you have to trust your enemy to save your friends. But what do you do when that enemy is you?

From the look of it, this week’s cadre of new releases is the bookish equivalent of stopping to rest after a few laps of running at top speed. By that, I mean that the last few weeks’ worth of book releases have been soooo extensive–almost to the point of being overwhelming to those book lovers who enjoy all kinds of genre fiction–and this present set above (while not at all exhaustive) is more manageable, full of what look to be intriguing, unique, or hotly anticipated titles.
Intriguing? With a Vengeance, the romantic thriller by Jacqui Jacoby, which from reviews appears to be a fast-paced wild ride perfectly balanced with a romance between two characters you can root for. Unique? The Shadow Girl by Jennifer Archer. in this supernatural YA, the voice inside one’s head is very much real. Hotly anticipated? Say no more than Inferno, by Sherrilyn Kenyon. (Another dose of our (teen) boy Nick! Yay!)

Find anything to add to your To Read list this week? What’s the next “Oh My Goodness please hurry up and release or I will cry” book in your TBR?
I still have to read the Chronicles of Nick by Sherrilyn Kenyon, but I do have the books. And yes for a new Elizabeth Lowell! Great author.
Likewise re: Chronicles of Nick. Not sure whether to wait until I’ll read more of the Dark Hunters books first, or whether it’d be better to read about Nick’s tales of younger years before getting much further into the adult PNR books. Do you happen to be intentionally holding off on reading the Nick books for a similar purpose?
Indeed, yay Lowell! And yay for it being a single title. Romance series are great, but sometimes it’s nice to have a whole story start and end in a single installment.
I think you can safely read until Acheron. The reason I am hesitant, is because the relationship between Nick and his mother is not as wonderful as portrayed in the Dark Hunters books. She totally altered his personal history in the spinoff, at least, that is what I have read.
I’ve been seeing Abigail’s “Touch and Geaux” everywhere and am intrigued.
Indeed. It intrigued me too, partially because this seventh book is getting coverage whilst I haven’t ever heard of the previous six. Wonder if the punny title has anything to do with it…. ^_^
there are less that’s for sure but i do want some like appolyon and the rising but i will have to wait i think^^
I hear ya—it seems even in slower weeks, there’s more than enough to add to the TBR!
Slow week for me here. I’m on the fence about getting the Willig book now or waiting until a price drop. I have to say that I was all set to wait ’til I heard a sample, and now I’m feeling impatient. (Because, you know, I have nothing else to read.)
Blasted samples. Really hard to stop reading–even with a partial chapter, you feel invested when it’s good.
In the meantime….that book sure does have a purty cover…
I love seeing dragon books in the New Releases post. Because I know you put them there for me.
Indeed, madam, I do!
