Please give a warm welcome to Elle James, who is back to Book Lovers Inc. to celebrate the release of Voodoo for Two, the second novel in her Cajun Magic series! And she has brought you a special treat: a character interview with the heroine, Lucie Lebieu! So read on to learn more about Lucie and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end. 😉
Interview with Lucie LeBieu
by Elle James
At the Raccoon Saloon, Lucie is working as a waitress in a bar full of rowdy Cajuns.
Male Reporter: Do you have time to answer a few questions, Ms. LeBieu?
Lucie: (settling onto a bar stool) If you make it fast and not too personal.
Reporter: As the granddaughter of the infamous Madam LeBieu, how much hands-on experience do you have with the art of Voodoo?
Lucie: Gran LeBieu has been after me to learn the trade, but it’s not something I particularly believe in or have had an interest in learning. (Looking down at her shoes) Until recently. I’m sure it’s not that difficult. She’s got a spell book at her house in the bayou. It’s nothing more than reading the directions… Easy peasy.
Reporter: Rumor has it you used Voodoo to cast a spell on a local politician?
Lucie: (glances away) I don’t know what you’re talking about. Next question.
Reporter: Have you ever concocted a love potion?
Lucie: (face turns red) Of course not. Love should be something from the heart not a potion. (fidgeting in her chair)
Reporter: Is there any truth to the rumor you grandmother can turn men into frogs?
Lucie: (smilingly relieved) Now don’t you go believing everything you hear. Voodoo is like a healing art. It’s not a form of punishment.
Reporter: Then how to you explain Voodoo Dolls?
Lucie: (softly snorts) A gimmick cooked up by marketers. They don’t really work. Wanna test that theory? (pulls out a doll and long pin from behind the bar) Give me a strand of your hair.
Reporter: (Plucking strand, hands to Lucie) Are you sure it doesn’t work? That’s a really big needle you have there.
Lucie: (grinning as she lays the reporter’s hair across the doll) Relaxxxx. Now watch carefully as I poke this pin into the doll. (pokes doll in the hand)
Reporter: Ouch! (curls hand into a fist) I felt that.
Lucie: (holds pin over the doll’s crotch) Anymore questions?
Reporter: (eyes rounded, sweat popping out on his forehead, shakes head) Not from me. Thank you for your time. Mind if I have my hair back?
Lucie: Not at all. (whispers: Silly man)
Meet Lucie LeBieu in VOODOO FOR TWO, Book #2 of the CAJUN MAGIC series available from Entangled Publishing.
Book #2 in the Cajun Magic series
Be careful what you wish for…
Determined to marry the most eligible bachelor in the parish to save her family, Lucie LeBieu turns a “love bug” loose to cast its Voodoo spell. What she doesn’t count on is hitting two targets—the golden boy congressional candidate and her Cajun-hot ex. To set things right, she must undo the spell before she falls into bed—and back in love—with a certain down and dirty heartbreakin’ cop or breaks another man’s heart.
Undercover investigator Ben Boyette is back in Louisiana on special assignment when he runs across his old flame, brewing up trouble as usual. But when hometown threats turn deadly, Lucie’s life is on the line. Determined to protect both her and his politician assignment from falling victim to a murderer, Ben finds that he’s the one who’s falling hard for the irresistible bayou temptress.
