The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me?
Welcome to our new edition of The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me? Here at Book Lovers Inc we’re known to be picky cover-wise. Yes this is a nice way to say we often bitch about every tiny details of covers. But sometimes we see new covers and we are left speechless…in a good way. I remember us dedicating a whole post ranting about a Kate Daniels cover and here we are today having a raving post about the new Ilona Andrews cover! We’re curious to see what you think of these covers.
Caro: *squeeeee* I fell in love at first sight with this cover! Wow I mean everything works for me. I LOVE the model they chose, her face screams BADASS, she looks so fierce. I love that. I also love the background with Atlanta smoking. The colors are perfect (yes I love orange). And last detail, the smoking gun! Yeah baby! Yes I’ve ranted a lot about the Kate Daniels covers but this time I can only applaud the awesomeness of this cover. *clap clap clap* ⇐ no I’m not talking about STDs *wink*
Susi: I couldn’t agree more. This cover is just fabulous. I adore the colors and the composition. Andrea looks awesome- all fierce and strong. And yes the city in the back is just great. So totally fitting the setting. Awesome cover- all thumbs up.
Caro: Come ON how can you not love this cover? The guy looks like a pirate! I love this cover! I love that for once a couple is represented on the cover (and not just mantitties) ⇐ I know I can’t believe I just said that. Their outfits are awesome. Look at his gears! Hey I said gears not package, looks at the gloved hand. They both look pretty intense (yes his face looks like he could be fed a little more often lol). I really really like it. I’m so excited about this book. I feel like doing a Happy Dance. This is so exciting.
Susi: Wow, I really like this one too. The steampunk elements just fit in and I do like that guy. *swoon* I like the look on the woman’s face- she doesn’t look like you should fuck with her. The title at the bottom is a bit meh but the rest is so awesome I don’t even really mind. And look Ilona Andrews quote. *g* I so want this one.

I can’t get enough of them
I pre-ordered Gunmetal Magic before it had a cover – but now I’m happy that as well as a great character story, I will have a fabulous cover. Smoking buildings in the background are fabulous… 🙂

I love both covers too! I’m so happy they chose a good model for Andrea especially.
Me too. And funny enough it made Andrea more appealing character-wise. I had trouble picturing her in my head. I’m so happy with it
i LOVE the cover of Riveted. So perfect. Sure the other two were nice but mantitties meh
It sure is perfect. The other two really cannot compete with this one. <3 I never grow tired of looking at it.
Oh come ON. Riveted just looks like a couple of college kids cosplaying. Zzzzzz. I admit it could be worse, but really? Have we reached a point where we rave about covers just because they aren’t mind-boggling terrible?
On Gunmetal Magic I like everything except the model. She just doesn’t look how I pictured Andrea. A little too barbie-ish for my tastes. I wanted someone who looked a bit scarier. Like she would pull a gun on me if I grabbed her boyfriend’s butt.
Teehee I LOVE the cover of Riveted! <== doesn't have more arguments lol I really like Andrea's face. I had trouble picturing her and this is how I want to remember her. I think she does look fierce. Maybe if the authors had gotten their wish and she'd have bouda spots she would have been scary enough for you 😉
YES! Bouda spots = win! Or maybe a we could see a dead body underneath that smoking gun. With some blood splatter on her clothes.
Both look good but I don’t love them. The woman on the cover of Gunmetal Magic looks really kick-ass but it differs from the image I have of Andrea.
I like Riveted’s cover. Their outfits look really ‘steampunk’. The only issue I have with it is that its not grungy enough maybe? Regardless, I look forward to both releases!
I can roll around in the dirt with the man on the Riveted cover, maybe it’ll help with the grungy aspect 😉 LMAO <== don't mind me I'm still coffee deprived
