Happy Saturday morning all and welcome back to the café! So, you know how I’ve been waxing all poetic about the beautiful summer weather and the joys of reading outside? Well, today, here, it’s rainy and humid…the ugly parts of summer converged into today’s forecast :p We just have to make the best of the yucky weather and read, I guess 🙂 What do you all have planned for the weekend?

Welcome to today’ special edition of Explore This! While The Geeky Lover and The HEA Lover are out of town, I snagged their time slot…though we do miss them when they’re gone 🙂
And it’s thanks to a recommendation from The Rocket Lover that I’m whisking you off to San Diego, California; it’s the setting for the book Night Walker by Lisa Kessler. From what I hear the Mission de Alcala plays a large role in the story, but we’ll take a tour all around the city. Okay, I’ll admit, I focused a bit more on the water and the beach. I’m feeling a bit beach bummy 😉
Happy Saturday morning all and welcome back to the café! The time seems ti be flying by so quickly right now. I hope you are all able to set aside some well deserved reading time this weekenf 🙂

I have to admit, I know very little about New Zealand. What I have experienced has been through friends’ travel photos, which were stunning. In fact, in searching for images, I found more often than not, the pictures were from either sites offering desktop backgrounds or on travel sites. Why? Because New Zealand has to be one of those perfect blends of lowlands and mountains, land and water that is pure fodder for photographers! Let’s take a look and see for ourselves:

Up until now, we’ve talked about book content, genres, and other things of the sort. Thanks to some of the other BLI’ers, today we’re going to take a look at the business behind the books that we love. Publishing involves a whole lot more than just writing a book, getting it into print, then into the readers hands. As book reviewers, we have our own place in the process now, but let’s see what else is involved in the wide world of publishing:
Publishers come in all shapes and sizes. Within publishers, there are also “imprints”. For our purposes here, we’re going to discuss the definition of imprint that refers to the trade name that books are published under (though there are several different meanings, as can be found on the Wiki page). These are usually grouped into similar styles of books, like Tor, part …
Happy Saturday morning all and welcome back to the café! In certain parts of the world (like mine), this weekend is the celebration of Queen Victoria’s birthday. What this means is an excuse for a long weekend, with the potential for a whole extra day of reading 😉 But even if you’re not part of this holiday celebration, here’s hoping that your weekend is filled with great weather and books!

In my wildest dreams, I have all the money I could want and I’m able to buy myself a cottage in Scotland. This fantasy has been fueled even further in my current read, Midnight’s Master by Donna Grant. The story takes off from Mallaig in Scotland, which is also the harbour you would travel from to reach Eigg. Once I started looking for pictures of the area, I got all dreamy-eyed at the thought of a quaint life in Scotland *huge sigh*.
Eigg is a small island in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides. With a population of 67 (according to Wiki), I certainly wouldn’t have to worry about busy body neighbours, right? But with it’s small number of inhabitants, it makes it a great place for a greener living, environmentally speaking as well as with regards to the lush scenery.
Mallaig is no less picturesque, with it’s harbour and town. It is …
Happy Saturday morning all and welcome back to the café! This looks like a promising weekend, weather wise, so I’m looking forward to sitting outside on my veranda, reading a good book with a nice summer themed tea, like Twinings Lady Grey. What’s your favourite summer beverage while reading?

Good morning all and welcome back to the best place in the web for accessing international book giveaways! I woke up this morning to a slightly cool breeze but a whole lotta sun. As long as it stays like this, my weekend will include as much time spent outside…with a good book, of course 😉 What does your weekend have in store?
