Romance and Me: What’s your story?

Hey Everyone!

We have been discussing romance novel related topics for some months now, and even though you have told me about your firsts, I still haven’t heard your story. The story of how you discovered and fell in love with the romance genre.

Was it love at first read? Or did it take several books? What kind of romance novel is your favourite?

I started out by falling for historical romances, I’ve always loved period dramas, so reading historical romance stories felt natural to me. But somehow I wasn’t eager to read contemporary romances, the only exception were Nora Roberts books. (I discovered the whole romance genre thanks to my high school best friend lending me one of NR’s stories, and she became my “Nora Roberts dealer”.) HR was my first and only love for a very long time. I only got to like …

Post-Christmas Winner Post

Hey Everyone!

Christmas is almost over (except at our place where due to the extended family we are Christmassing until Dec 29 or so usually :-)).

Sadly my sisters’ exams start early this year so they are leaving today. Our house will be so quiet 🙁 And I’ll have to start studying for my second bar exam as well, so I’m not happy at all that Christmas has gone so quickly. *sighs* At least I’ll have our beautiful tree up until the end of January, as it’s usually my task to take it down and put away all the ornaments and decorations. And you know what is my special traditions? I organize a Christmas un-decorating party! I invite a bunch of friends over, we listen to Christmas songs, drink eggnog, we relish the festive atmosphere in late January/early February and take down all the Christmas decorations together. I …

We’ll start decorating the house and as I will have to work next week as well, the task of baking Christmas cookies will fall to my sisters, so that when I come home from work at the end of the day the house will smell like cinnamon, miam 😀

Romance and Me: Holiday Romances

Hey Everyone!

Only 2 more weeks and it is Christmas!! *wait a few moments while I jump up and down and calm down my excitement* Ok I’m back. So with the holidays fast approaching I think the topic of today’s discussion is quite obvious: it’s time we talked about holiday romances!

Starting from the end of October holiday themed books start to flood bookshelves, and after mid-November everywhere you look you see Christmassy covers and holiday-related titles.

Until last year somehow I haven’t noticed this trend (maybe because I wasn’t blogging yet), but I participated in my very first holiday reading challenge last year and thanks to it I discovered the sub-category of holiday romances and became a fan! Maybe it’s because I love Christmas, and everything related to the holidays, or that I’ve always enjoyed holiday films as well, but I know that the combination …

Blurb:

Wickedly sexy James Bowen is a bad boy of the highest order — tattoos and attitude included — which unfortunately ranks way up on Tate’s not-a-chance-in-hell list, right there along with skydiving naked over Teheran and juggling Ebola vials just for kicks. But what the heck, she’s on holiday, the guy is absolutely irresistible, and she needs to unplug from her life. With her dad and brother gone, Tate is left to deal with the family restaurant, which is fast going down the drain. Her employees are acting out, her boyfriend has bailed out, and her very own private stalker is emailing her to death with lovely threats of doom, fire, and dismemberment. So yeah, maybe a little holiday fling is in order. Strictly sex though, and …
