Romance and Me: The Cheater Files

Hey Everyone!

Today’s post was inspired by the novel I am currenty reading where the heroine has trust issues with the hero due to her father being a cronic cheater and growing up having to witness her father’s womanizing ways.

Cheating is not a theme often explored in romance novels (or maybe it’s just me who doesn’t stumble upon those stories), the most I have seen is the hero or heroine having a jealousy fit but usually unfounded and serving only to prove the depth of their affection for each other.
But instances where either the hero or the heroine cheats on the other or someone else (either by thought, kiss, making out or sex) are rare. I would guess because witnessing either the hero or the heroine being unfaithful, even if to a third (and only marginal) character would make us readers have negative feelings about them and that would undermine how much …

The town of Crowder is werecat territory and the Katt family has lived on the Caterwaul Ranch for generations. But when a pack of werewolves start ravaging the land, Tabitha Katt is surprised to learn that her brother has sent a very human cowboy to protect her.

Jake Brown sure knows how to make her blood run hot, so when he gets bitten by one of the wolves they have to decide … can there be any love between a werecat and a werewolf?

My Thoughts: I love shifter stories and though I love werewolves, I find it a pity that feline shifter stories are so rare. There is something wildly irresistible and charming about the graceful strength of big cats, be they lions, tigers or panthers, so when I …

Winner Announcement – The Home Alone Edition

Hey Everyone!

You might know that I have two younger sisters so the house is always full and there is never one moment of peace. Which I love, the loud buzzing nonstop chatter is what I am used to, but sometimes a little calm would be great. So when by some kind of miracle I have the house to myself even for a couple of hours I want to make the most of it by soaking up the silence :-p And by some kind of cosmic stroke of luck both my two sisters and parents left for the whole weekend, so I was home alone for almost 2 days! (well almost, because I had some friends over on Saturday) *contented sigh* The small pleasures of life 😀

So when I am writing this post the sun just came up, and I’ll be soon on my way out to have breakfast by …

Hey Everyone!

You know that kind of excitement which makes you jittery and snappy because you start acting like an impatient 5 year-old who doesn’t get his/her ice cream immediately.

So it’s a good thing I only have to survive a couple more weeks before I can get my paws on them.

So let me show you some of those new releases which have me in such a state 🙂

Romance and Me: Is There Such a Thing as Too Much Sex in a Romance Novel?

Hey Everyone!

When talking/thinking about romance novels the topic of sex is bound to come up. Everyone has their own preference: whether they like it sweet and PG, or sensual and steamy, and some even don’t mind it being graphic, but everyone has their stand on the issue. As you well know Susi and I, we both want our romance novels to have some sweet smex, but recently I read a novel which made me wonder whether there is such a thing as too much sex…

You see this novel was marketed and shelved as a contemporary romance novel and I jumped in expecting a sexy romantic read, but instead got something else.Once again let me say not only I don’t mind reading sex scenes in my romance novels, to the contrary I enjoy and cherish them, but when I was reading this novel, I noticed that after a steamy scene there was no out-of-the-bedroom scene …

Post-vacation Winners!

Hey Everyone!

I’m baaack! 🙂 Arrived home back from my week-long vacation late last night. It was heavenly! *dreamy sighs* Warm sunshine, beautiful beach and plenty of quiet time to read! 😀 But it’s good to be back, I missed the book news buzz, the happenings in the blogosphere and most of all chatting with all of you! (Twitter I’m back!)

So now rested with a tan and a big smile I’m here to announce quite a lot of winners and wow did they win some fantastic books this week (I just read the first two books this past week and can’t wait to read Christina Henry’s series as well), so I won’t keep you longer, let’s get down to it!

Bookish Rants or Raves: The Difficulty of Choosing aka The Stress of Vacation Book-Packing

I’ll start with an apology. I apologize beforehand because I am so stressed out and jittery that my every breath is a rant right now so I’ll try to organize the ranting chaos in my head but I can guarantee nothing. *takes deep breaths… mumbles Zen mantras*

Ok, I’m back. 🙂

So what has me worked up? My vacation. Well to be exact my leaving for vacation. Or if you want me to be even more specific it is packing for my vacation.

First of all work has been crazy this week. Somehow we have 3 major projects (which we have been working on for the past 3-4 weeks!) all ending this week, which means that instead of me taking care of last minute details and cleaning my desk everyone is hysteric at work and we jump around like caffeinated bugs. *deep breaths*

Ok, I’m Zen 🙂 Besides work there is of course the small matter that …

Romance and Me: The Curse or the Blessing of the Romance Covers

Hey Everyone!

As BLI familiars you must know our own Susi and Caro’s feature: The Good, The Bad and The Are-You-Kidding-Me, where every second Monday they take a look at book covers and share their thoughts (*cough* rants and gushing rather *cough*) about the beautiful and the ugly, and mostly about the ridiculous.Today I would like to ask the age-old question regarding your thoughts on romance novel covers.

As a teenager I didn’t read romance novels partly because of my upbringing (I come from a bookishly snob family, we only read books which had “some literary value”, I know, I know *eyeroll*) but also because of the embarassing and ridiculous covers of these books, I never would have been caught dead reading these in public:

or even this:

(I can so picture the old ladies around 70-80 years old who upon sitting next to me/in front of me …
