The Authors Strike Back with Cathryn Brunet & Stephanie Julian + Giveaway

As we say here in Germany “Rache ist Blutwurst!” (Revenge is Blood Sausage!) some author’s jumped up and screamed yes when we said yes you can actually grill us in return for all the evil questions we threw at you all year. So here is what Blutwurst looks like- we were actually forced to answer them all twitter style (140 characters or less). Please welcome today’s interviewers: Cathryn Brunet and Stephanie Julian. And if you endure it there is a surprise at the end. 😉

Cathryn Brunet: Do you compose a review of the book in your head as you’re reading or do you just try to enjoy (or not) the story?

Susi – The Geeky Lover: Depends. I take notes for review copies but just enjoy my pleasure reads. And …

Thank you Book Lovers Inc. for letting me participate in your Blogoversary
A few months ago, Caroline wrote me with the idea of writing a blog post about London as seen through the eyes of my heroine, Henrietta, in Rakes and Radishes. However, I’ve been so immersed in a Victorian project, that I’m afraid I’ve lost Henrietta’s voice.

So, I’ve combed the pages …

Why You Shouldn’t Read A Dakota Cassidy Book by Nina Blackman-Statleon

The Book Lovers are still relaxing somewhere warm and cozy (or that’s what they wish) so today Nina Blackman-Statleon (aka cranky, potty mouth vampire from Accidentally Dead) will tell us why you shouldn’t read books written by her creator Dakota Cassidy. Please give her warm welcome.

So Susi was all nice and invited Dakota Cassidy to guest blog. Dakota writes several series. My name is Nina, and I’m from her paranormal series titled, The Accidentals. It’s a series about women who’ve been accidentally bitten by one nuttier than squirrel turds shapeshifter or another. There are a bunch, and quite honestly, I’ve lost count of the damn things because it seems like I’ve been in a gabillion bad situations since my book. But I was in book two. I’m a vampire. End promotional type spiel.

That brings me to this. Diva, er… Dakota’s …

Yay! Congratulations to the Book Lovers on their blogoversary. And thank you to them for inviting me back to help celebrate! It’s great to be here 🙂

So, the Book Lovers told me that this would be an easy gig, and that instead of them asking me questions, or me doing a blog post, that this time they wanted me to make them do all the work (she says, typing frantically away! Yep, I fell for that one, didn’t I? *g*). But, after wracking my …

Our Blogoversary Party starts: Authors’ Takeover + Big Giveaway

The first thing we have to say is *please cover your ears*
SQUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Can you believe it already has been a year? We can’t really.

So what better chance for me as the Geeky Lover to talk numbers. *Muahahhaha* This year practically flew by but in retrospective we achieved a lot. We published a total of 719 posts, with 226 of them being reviews. OMG I would have never thought it would be that much but yay! We also had some authors over at here and 82 of them were tortured by our, sometimes not so easy, questions (but believe me some of them got their revenge *big sigh*). Another 42 guestposts complete the list of people we will be always thankful for. But not only the authors made this possible. We found 678 kindred spirits and yes all of our readers deserve the …

Around the Bookish World: News Week-in-Review

Nora Roberts has joined the Million copies sold on Kindle club and joins the ranks with Stieg Larrson and James Patterson. The Bookseller reports that she has sold more than 1,170,539 Kindle books under her Nora Roberts and J.D Robb pseudonym! Way to go Nora!

According to Price Waterhouse in the UK, they have predicted that the UK ebook market growth will increase ten-fold during the next five years. However there is a caveat warning stating in their report that that growth will be sluggish compared to their US counterparts who are more open to the digital format whilst the the UK publishers are reluctant in embracing this new market. Personally I think with agency pricing emerging in both the US and the UK, I doubt that point is right but I do think that non agency publishers will …

Stepping out of my Comfort Zone the prejudices that hold me back

In the past I often discovered that stepping out of my reading comfort zone can change your reading habits in a big way.
I started reading mostly science fiction and fantasy without any touch of romance, and yes reading my first romance made me blush like crazy and I thought I would never like that “kitsch”.
And here I am now Romance addict and fighting for it to be accepted by others. But no, my prejudices didn’t stop there.

I always loved to read Paranormal Romance or SciFi Romance (when I found one) but Contemporaries for me always were those housewife stories with the appealing names like “Virgin on her Wedding Night” or even better “The Playboy Sheikh’s Virgin Stable Girl”. Seriously? I swore to never read those and I was 100% sure that the rest of this genre couldn’t be any better. I …
