Bree: Moira Rogers is the penname I share with my best friend, Donna. We’ve been writing together for almost five years now.

Donna: I’m Brad Pitt, and she’s Edward Norton. But we usually don’t punch each other. (Are Fight Club jokes getting dated now? I can’t tell.)

Book Blurb:

Alan Reece, an unassuming animal doctor from the West Country, was surprised to discover that he had become the link between reality and the strange world beyond. Unfortunately, ripples from his unwitting transformation have freed a dark and terrible creature from its improbable prison.

My Thoughts:
Past Tense reminded me of the old “Doublemint Gum” commercial. Because it was two, two, two books in one.
And you might think that’s a terrible joke, but it fits with the snarky tone of the first part of the book. Fully realizing that everyone’s taste in both humor and snark varies widely. And wildly.

The beginning of the book takes off about a year after Marsh’s first book, Soul …

Guest Post: Djinns on my Brain by Mina Khan + Giveaway

We’re excited to welcome paranormal romance author Mina Khan to BLI today! She stops by to talk a bit about her childhood in Bangladesh, including one particular summer during which she had a brush with an unexplainable and magical occurrence. Those experiences helped later shape her storytelling and inform the mystique of her tales about djinns! So without further ado…welcome, Mina!

 ——-

Thanks Alisha & Book Lovers Inc., for inviting me to share my favorite paranormal creature with your readers.

My debut novella, The Djinn’s Dilemma (Harlequin 2011), featured a djinn-human hybrid assassin who falls for his human target and must keep her alive from the bad guys. My second novella, A Tale of Two Djinns (coming out March 2012), is a Romeo & Juliet story involving warring djinn families, feminists & a happy ending! ☺

So yes, I have djinns on my brain. They are part of my story-psyche.

“Djinn,” pronounced “gin,” are …

A short story set between Wilder’s Mate and Hunter’s Prey.

He’s sure he’s seen it all, until an airship crash leaves him caught behind enemy lines with a concussion and a mate he doesn’t remember taking.

Paralee Colton is a wild woman. She enjoys her freedom and makes a good living flying over the Deadlands. Until, that is, bloodsuckers shoot down her ship, and she’s forced to deal with an irritatingly attractive man who isn’t a …

When two frozen hearts collide…

Emma Reed closed her heart to love years ago after a lifetime spent getting kicked around foster homes and bad relationships. Now she’s on a mission to prove she deserves her recent award to paint a mural for a research base in Antarctica. Nothing and no one is going to get in her way.

After months working in recovery zones around the world, Hunter Wilson planned to escape everything this holiday season by rebuilding a lab at the Kiwi Research Base. Alone. No to family, no to fun. It’s isolation not intimacy he’s aching for. But when he sees the determined artist, that ache becomes an urge – after all, shouldn’t someone show her what two people can do with twenty-four hours of …

Natalie Anderson, author of Melt

Think you know winter? You don’t know winter until you’ve checked out the dry, frozen depths of Antarctica, friend. So says author Natalie Anderson in her latest book, Melt. In this sweet tale, two icy, closed-off hearts start to thaw after they meet and get to know each other in one of the most icy, closed-off places on earth. Today at BLI, Natalie talks a bit about her inspirations behind the Antarctica-based book, and she shares some of her commonalities (and differences!) with the characters she created in this story. Please give her a warm (pun intended ^_^) welcome!

Alisha: In your book Melt, you describe all types of things about Antarctica: the various modes of transportation, the facilities, the types of people and functions found there heck, even some of the social functions! How do you know so much about this place?

And instead of being pissed that she snuck out on him, he seems determined to have a repeat performance.

Marcus Devlin knew his family would make good on their threat to send him to the ends of the earth some day. He didn’t think it would be quite so literal, sticking him on a cruise ship to Antarctica, after his latest scandal. Time for him to learn the …
