We are really happy to have debut author Lauren Hammond here today. Her first novel Love Sucks was released on August 3rd and she is here today to talk about choices and opportunities. Please give her a warm welcome.
We are constantly offered so many choices in our everyday lives. We have opportunities to decide what we want out of life. But what if you weren’t given a choice? What if the life you are leading was chosen for you?
That’s what happened to Cara Jones in Love Sucks. Cara never chose to be a vampire. That life was chosen for her.
When I began writing this novel, the first mental image I ever got of Cara Jones was her punching her fist through the lid of her coffin and the rest is history. I tried to put myself in …
The Good Thief’s Guide to Vegas (Good Thief’s Guide, book 3) by Chris Ewan
During a brief trip to Vegas, Charlie Howard – mystery writer and professional thief – is nonplussed to find his agent, Victoria, being charmed by a stage illusionist at a high stakes roulette table. It doesn’t help that the illusionist, Josh Masters, has invited Victoria to his sell-out show, nor that he seems to be doing very well at roulette. Still, Charlie’s not one to hold a grudge, least of all when he could be holding Masters’ wallet. Breaking into the conjurer’s hotel room and making off with a pile of casino chips would seem to be adequate compensation. Matters are complicated however when Charlie discovers the trussed-up corpse of Masters’ beautiful assistant lying in the bath. When Masters disappears and Charlie is …

I have been thinking about things that distract and bother me when I’m reading. I’ve come to realize that there are two types of distractions that can get on my nerves:
1 – Environmental Distractions
2 – In-Book Distractions
1 – I really need silence when it comes to reading. i can’t have music on the TV on and if my dad is watching TV in the next room, I have to close my door to avoid the sound to bother me.
I also need to feel comfortable when reading. I read mostly laying down on my bed, but I can also deal with reading on my desk from time to time.
2 – Now, these are more subtle distractions. I’m talking about things in a book that just make you scratch your head and that most of the time you have to …

When I think of my favourite couples in YA, it’s not because of their hotness, kick-ass status or sheer awesomeness. The perfect couple in YA is a mature one, and one that betters both parties. One sidedness in anything doesn’t work for me, and lack of growth or change doesn’t work either.
Which is why I have picked the following couples, they went in either broken or lost and came out whole with a partner that not only complimented them, but helped them to become a better person.
Alex and Brittany – Perfect Chemistry
A perfect example, and …
Dracula in Love by Karen Essex
Genre: Paranormal
Karen Essex turns on the heat in this transporting and darkly haunting new tale of love and possession that puts forth the question: What if everything you knew about Dracula . . . was wrong?
From the shadowy banks of the River Thames to the wild and windswept coast of Yorkshire, the quintessential Victorian virgin Mina Murray vividly recounts in the pages of her private diary the intimate details of what transpired between her and Count Dracula—the joys and terrors of a pas sionate affair and her rebellion against a force of evil that has pursued her through time.
Mina’s version of this timeless gothic vampire tale is a visceral journey into the dimly lit bedrooms, mist-filled cemeteries, and locked asylum chambers where she led a secret life, far from the …
I’ve been reading all sorts of speculative fiction recently which presents issues when it comes to actual places we could virtually visit for this week (it’s hard to find real pics of post-apocalyptic Earth, right?). I hit up my best friend, Mel at He Followed Me Home for an idea. She gave me inspiration in the form of Stolen (A letter to my captor) by Lucy Christopher. I’ve included the book trailer here for more info (since I personally haven’t read the book) and then our tour begins. It looks like another stunning place I have yet to visit. Enjoy!
So last week I brought to the table the Delish Eidolon from Larissa Iones Demonica series. And let me just say, for those of you who haven’t read this series yet *eyes bug out* OMG what are you waiting for?!?! Books # 5 comes out towards the end of this month!!! But in the mean time i’m gonna share some hotties with you!!!!
