Bookish Rants or Raves: Standalone Novels X Series!

Time and time again I ask myself why do I favor Book series so much more than standalone novels. I mean, cliffhangers are a killer for me, so standalone books should always be my drug of choice, right?

Hell no! I think I might be a masochist for reading a great book and willingly suffering for months until the next installment comes out. If it’s a successful series? Then i am really screwed, because then I will be waiting years until I get all my answers and a conclusion to the story.

Why do i do that? Why do I keep adding series to my already full roster? The answer is simple, I can’t help it!
Book series give you so much more than a standalone novel. You get more of your favorite characters, more action or romance and more everything else.

I know series can be annoying …

Explore This! Paris Suburban Life and Algeria

Last week, I posted my review for Some Dream For Fools by Faiza Guene. The bulk of this story takes place in the poorer suburbs of Paris. We’ve all seen the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, The Arc D’Triomphe, right? Well, our heroine, Ahleme, takes us to parts of Paris that we don’t often hear about. The Pierre de Coubertin Stadiuam, where her brother Foued gets in trouble with his friends, the Galleries Lafayette and the Thiais shopping centres, and the Chatelet-Les Halles, where Ahleme arranges to meet up for a date (this last picture is much older but I’m sure the archetecture remains much the same.) Note: the pictures are in order as listed.

Guest Post: Author Sara Brookes +Giveaway

We are really happy to have Author Sara Brookes here again. This week her new book Midnight’s Ghost, book 1 in the Starr Runner Series was released and she is here today to talk a bit about women and Science Fiction. Please give her a warm welcome. And don’t forget to check out her giveaway at the end of the post. Women don’t like science fiction.

Right off the bat, I have to say that sentence above is a lie. However, a vast majority of people will try to tell you otherwise. See, at some point in time, someone drew a conclusion that women don’t like science, math, astronomy, comic books, etc. Those things were considered innately “dorky” and something women wouldn’t be drawn to. I suppose their logic was women were the caretakers and therefore too prim and proper?
