How many times have we heard the phrase: “Based on…” when referring to movies or TV shows? The tradition of transforming a novel into a movie or a TV series has been going on for the longest time and it makes complete sense, doesn’t it? There are so many books out there and tons of them just scream to be adapted to a screen, any screen.
How many time have you read a book and thought about which actor or actress would represent your favorite character better? To be honest, I don’t, ever. You might want to cast stones, but I hate movie of TV show adaptations of books I’ve read. They never match, let alone surpass whatever expectations I have for them and they always turn out to be a disappointment for me.
I have to say that I do find myself enjoying a few …
It is our pleasure to have had an opportunity to talk with Bonnie Doerr, author of Island Sting.
Tell us a bit about ISLAND STING.
Telling about a novel I wrote should be an easy thing for me to do, right? But the book has been described so many ways by readers that I often don’t know how to approach this request. And, honestly, it’s more about what the book is to readers than what it is to me. So first I’ll use the thoughts and words of others to talk about it.
To ground the story, ISLAND STING is a contemporary adventure/mystery novel set in the Florida Keys. Though it’s often included on lists of YA reads (these days YA seems to stretch up to college age), it’s more for younger teens and tweens.
I get a kick out of stringing …

Morgan Kingsley, a kick-ass exorcist, can deal with Lugh, the super-sexy demon living inside her, but does he have to moan softly during her intimate moments with her mortal lover? But personal matters will have to wait when the opportunistic owner of The Seven Deadlies demon club in Philadelphia enlists Morgan’s help in heading off a crisis: It seems that demons have started showing up at the hot spot in alarming numbers and in the unwilling bodies of rough trade club-goers. Morgan is sure that Dougal, Lugh’s sworn enemy, is behind this, but why? To find out Morgan must summon every ounce of power at her command—or risk …
This post is really just my opinion on what can go wrong when a book gets published in Germany.
And believe me that happens more than you think. And yes, I’m aware of this just being the minority but it makes me angry nonetheless.
It’s a totally subjective post and I can only speak for German releases.
No idea how it works in other countries.
1. Inventing a new English Title for the German edition
Okay I’m not thinking about anything as hilarious as “The Playboy Sheikh’s Virgin Stable-Girl“and other wonderful Harlequin Presents creations but the things we get here in Germany are sometimes rather mind boggling. I can understand when an English book gets a German title cuz that’s what we all would expect but why would they change a English title into another English …

I was filming a movie for a college project the last two days. Its a very intense process and sometimes its fun. As I was thinking about what to write I thought about talking about books that were made into movies. There are so many books that are made into movies especially in the last few years.
Most of the adapted books that I watch are fantasy. Filming those movies is so hard because normally there are creatures that need to be inserted through animation and if there is flying it needs to look real. So everyone knows about the blue and green screens that one needs to film in front. But there is a lot more that needs to be done. The actors have to be convincing about whats happening when actually nothing really happens next to them.
The hardest part …
It is our pleasure to have with us today Irene Latham, author of ‘LEAVING GEE’S BEND’.Fate, destiny, serendipity… whatever you want to call it, YES, I’m a believer. I even wrote and published a poem once entitled “Creed,” which proclaimed, among other things, “I believe in serendipity,/ coincidence, random/ accidents that defy explanation/ because there is no explaining pain/ or the lack of it.” And when I think about how I came to write LEAVING GEE’S BEND, I see all sorts of fateful occurrences, as if this story was inside me all along, waiting for me to finally get to a …

Today’s post is a bit book unrelated but it soooo cute I just couldn’t not blog about it.
Amigurumi are little sweet crotched puppets and as always I searched for some more geeky ones and I found a few very cute ones. I tried to make some of them on my own and I have to admit my crafting skills aren’t high enough for crocheting. Man the oney I made look weird to say it nice. More reason for me to admire those who can make these gorgeous Amigurumi.
