Romance and Me: Is it the money? – The Appeal of the Billionaire Hero

Hey Everyone!

It has come to our attention (thanks Amanda for pointing it out) that lately there has been a real billionaire hero boom in romance novels. No, of course I’m not saying this is something new, wealthy, obscenely rich, exotic heroes were always à la mode for category romances, it’s only that in the past couple of weeks we have read novel after novel featuring one of them (like Weekend Agreement, The Marriage Bargain, Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire just to name a few). So we wondered what is it about rich heroes that makes them such a popular choice?

Nina Croft author of Blackmailed by the Italian Billionaire even asked readers for their opinion and here are some of their answers:

Gaby: I think it’s because usually money gives a man power, and women don’t like powerless …

Guest Post: A Conversation (in Bed) with Andrew and Gemma by Maggie Robinson + Giveaway

Today I am happy to welcome back to Book Lovers Inc. Maggie Robinson, author of the deliciously steamy historical romance Courtesan Court series. Until now the 3 previous books all depicted the story of a heroine living on the courtesan street, so it is interesting to see that for the fourth and final book in the series Maggie Robinson deviates and tells the story of a tortured hero who made an appearance in a previous book as an almost villain! *gasps* Yes! So you can imagine my surprise and curiosity regarding Master of Sin (my review will be posted tomorrow). Please give Maggie a warm welcome, read on for an exclusive previously unseen bed scene between the hero and heroine of Master of Sin and if you leave a comment you could even win a copy!

Love’s Rhythm by Lexxie Couper

His music moves the world. Can his love move her heart?

Nick Blackthorne knows all about words of love. They’re the reason he’s the world’s biggest rock star. The irony? He turned his back on love a long time ago, lured away by the trappings of fame.

An invitation to a friend’s wedding is a stark reminder of how meaningless his life has become. When he enters that church, there’s only one woman he wants on his arm—the one he walked out on a lifetime ago. But first he has to find her, even if all she accepts from him is an apology.

Kindergarten teacher Lauren Robbins once had what every woman on the planet desires. Nick. Their passion was explosive, their romance the stuff of songs…and it took fifteen years to get over him. Then out of the blue Nick turns up at her door, and …

Making Merry on Midsummer’s Eve

Spring is in the air! As the sun shines brighter and the temperatures rise, I feel my blood stirring. Summertime, with her vibrant, sweaty nights, is coming soon. I love every season, but I find summer by far the sexiest. Indeed, I set my debut novel, the RUNAWAY COUNTESS, during the hot, sultry summer of 1821.

Summer brings long days spent out-of-doors, succulent berries fresh from the garden, and boisterous open air festivals. The most …

Explore This! Mendocino, California

I’ve been reading The Wolf Gift by Anne Rice, and in it, her version of the werewolf travels through San Francisco and further on north through California. I thought it would be neat to check out Mendocino, California, being it’s one of the names in her book.

The Wolf Gift takes place (at times) in a remote area on the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by redwood trees that have a particular meaning for some of the characters. The images Rice offers are ones of lush nature but with a certain wild, savage, untouchable feel. I think in searching out some of these images, I would agree, but this area is certainly one filled with raw beauty also. Let’s check it out:

Living alongside the ocean tends to wear homes down that much quicker.

If you've read Rice's book, you can easily imagine Reuben in these …

Susi: Cass, tell us a bit about your life outside of reading and blogging.

Draconismoi: I’m a bush lawyer in Alaska.

Get your mind out of the gutter! Not THAT kind of bush.

I work with a legal aid organization in rural Alaska. (See the map? All that stuff inside the arrows? My territory. Lots of space. Only one me.) I provide free civil legal services to people who have serious legal issues and cannot afford to pay an attorney. Lots of domestic violence custody disputes, …

Hello my fellow Book Lovers how are you today? Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate it today like me 🙂 How was your week? The upcoming week is yet again not crowded at all with book releases. But beware, next week, there are so many scheduled releases to fulfill everyone’s wishes!

Jackie: The Last Echo by Kimberly Derting

In the end, all that’s left is an echo…

The International Giveaways Café (39)

Welcome back to the café! How have you all been doing with your reading lately? I’ve been a bit sluggish, I will admit. There’s something about spring air that stirs a restlessness up, making it a little harder than normal to concentrate. Do you all find that or maybe experience the same feeling at a different time of year? For me, I think it has something to do with romanticizing about sitting on a patio with a nice iced tea and a good book. It’s ironic, I suppose, but I’m just itching to get out into the beautiful weather. Ah well, soon enough right? In the meantime, let’s get back to the business of book giveaways:

Remember to let us know if you’ve won anything recently; the Book Lovers would love to hear! At Book Lovers Inc., it’s our pleasure to share the bookish love! Good …

Around the Bookish World: News-Week-In-Review

Welcome to this week’s news post! And this week has certainly been eventful with major publishing and book news. From the Department of Justice in the US suing and settling with the Big 5 publishers and Apple about Agency pricing,  publishers pulling out of Amazon and J.K Rowling unveiling the details and publication dates for her first adult book.

Yesterday, my twitter feed exploded when news emerged that the Department of Justice will be suing  Macmillon, Hachette, Penguin, Simon and Schuster and HarperCollins over alleged collusion with Apple and price fixing with the Agency model. However it looks like that Hachette, Simon and Schuster and HarperCollins will settle with the DOJ  but Macmillon and Penguin along with Apple will be facing a lawsuit over alleged collusion over Agency pricing.

However this isn’t the end of the whole issue. 16 states in the US will also have their own lawsuits and it …

Stella: Hi Justine, welcome to Book Lovers Inc! Can you please tell us a bit about yourself?

Justine: Well, whenever I do the internet personality-quiz memes, I come out as INTJ, the moon, or Professor Snape. So that’s me, basically – although I don’t think Professor Snape would ever do a personality-quiz meme, so…
