Welcome to this week’s news post and we have a jam packed edition with major news about Agency pricing, book covers and some fantastic tidbits! So sit back and get a nice cuppa because one or two links will lead you to wanting one and enjoy!
The big news this week is that the Department of Justice in the US who has been investigating due to anti-trust issues is now threatening the Big five publishers, and Apple for collusion according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. It does not help that there was reports that Apple had approached Publishers previously and suggested that Agency pricing should be used to counteract Amazon’s dominance in the ebook market but it seems this may have given impetus for an investigation and it looks like that Agency Pricing is going to end especially since its going to be pretty costly with lawsuits …
Welcome to the world of Audiobooks! Today we’ll be raving about our love for audiobooks and what you have to consider before choosing what to listen to next!
Susi: I can’t really say how all this started- okay maybe I do- Caro was crazy about audiobooks and the last Carolyn Crane was in audio first so I tried it and never looked back. It’s just so handy. You can knit while listening to audiobooks or be on the tram or clean the apartment or other things you need 2 hands for. Just the perfect way to spend the time.
Caro:I started listening to Harry Potter years ago when I had insomnia (it didn’t help btw the narration sucked me in). The narrator blew me away and ever since I kept wishing I could listen to more Audiobooks. I finally gave in and tried a few books and I got addicted. I listen to …
While Stella is off jet-setting this week, her next Romance and Me post will be delayed, which means you get me two weeks in a row 🙂 After last week’s post about killing zombies, I’m not sure whether to run screaming from you readers or to embrace you all as kindred spirits, lol. I loved the comments on that post and will go with the hugging option.
Today, though, I think we’ll head in another direction altogether. A few of the books I’ve been reading or listening to recently have had me thinking about languages. Being an international blog, we still publish here in English though it isn’t necessarily all of our native tongues. I know that some of us Book Lovers still prefer to read/listen in English anyway, despite this.
But even within the English language, there are such variations which can really affect the way a …
Today, we at at BLI are really pleased to welcome author Gail Barrett for a guest post about her latest work. She’s already authored a host of award-winning romances in the romantic suspense subgenre. Please show her a warm welcome as she chats a bit about the worldwide background research and inspirations for her stories and characters.
Thank you so much for inviting me to chat! I’m honored and thrilled to be here. I’m especially excited since so many of you live in Europe, which is the setting for my new miniseries for Harlequin Romantic Suspense, The Stealth Knights.
Despite their medieval-sounding name, the Stealth Knights are a very modern — and unconventional — group of heroes. Here’s how they came about. I was hoping to create an open-ended series without a set number of books — something I could add to as inspiration struck. …
Discount Armageddon by Seanan McGuire
Ghoulies. Ghosties. Long-legged beasties. Things that go bump in the night… The Price family has spent generations studying the monsters of the world, working to protect them from humanity-and humanity from them. Enter Verity Price. Despite being trained from birth as a cryptozoologist, she’d rather dance a tango than tangle with a demon, and is spending a year in Manhattan while she pursues her career in professional ballroom dance.
Sounds pretty simple, right? It would be, if it weren’t for the talking mice, the telepathic mathematicians, the asbestos supermodels, and the trained monster-hunter sent by the Price family’s old enemies, the Covenant of St. George. When a Price girl meets a Covenant boy, high stakes, high heels, and a lot of collateral damage are almost guaranteed. To complicate matters further, local cryptids are disappearing, strange lizard-men are appearing in the sewers, …
Today we’re thrilled to welcome our favorite duo of authors, better known under the name Moira Rogers on Book Lovers Inc. They’re here with us today to celebrate the release of Hunter’s Prey which is coming out tomorrow. (I cannot wait to read it!) Our Geeky Lover’s review will be up in a few hours so stay tuned. Please let’s give a warm welcome to our guests. And don’t forget you can win a copy of Hunter’s Prey at the end of the post.
BLI: For those who don’t know you yet could you tell us a bit about who’s behind Moira Rogers ?
Bree: Moira Rogers is the penname I share with my best friend, Donna. We’ve been writing together for almost five years now.
Donna: I’m Brad Pitt, and she’s Edward Norton. But we usually don’t punch each other. (Are Fight Club jokes getting dated now? I can’t tell.)
Bree: …
Hello my fellow Book Lovers 🙂 Another week has come to an end and I really hope that each and everyone of you have a wonderful weekend! Publishers continue to tease us with the incredible amount of books that are scheduled to hit the shelves this week as well and from all indication, March will be a really busy month bookwise. Honestly, I just can’t keep up with all the amazing books that are out every day. So, here is what caught our eye from next weeks scheduled releases 🙂
Lea: Dire Needs by Stephanie Tyler
The full moon is their mistress. They are predators of pleasure and pain. Feared by humans, envied by werewolves, the Dire Wolves are immortal shifters, obeying no laws but their own bestial natures. Once they were many, but now only six remain, a dangerous wolfpack forever on the hunt…
Rifter leads the pack, …

Hopefully soon the weather will perk up and we can start seriously thinking about reading out of doors again. Bring on Spring, I say 🙂

Welcome to Part III of BLI’s Kink in Erotic Romance: Forbidden Fruit or Guilty Pleasure? series.
I’m very excited about the next two segments of the series because BLI is welcoming special guest author Eden Bradley aka Eve Berlin who was kind enough to share her valuable time for an extensive conversation about the BDSM Lifestyle and it’s incorporation into erotic romance.
Eden Bradley/Eve Berlin is a full-time author whose many books are published by Harlequin Spice and HQN, Berkley Heat, Bantam/Dell, and Samhain Publishing. She has been reading and writing for as long as she can remember but became serious about her writing in the summer of 2000. She wrote romance novels, since that was what she thought she could sell, but eventually returned to what she truly loved: writing erotica, and eventually blended erotica …
