Hello my Fellow Book Lovers!
This is a very special post for me, since, as you can assume from the title, I will share my bookshelves with you! I don’t know about you, but I always felt, that sharing your books and the way you categorize them at your shelves, speaks volumes about who you are as a person. We all have a different way of shelving our books or other treasured items, and that is something that represents you, sort of!
Today, I’ll show you some pics of my bookshelves but let me share with you a little secret as well: I dream of the day I will have my own home and built a special room, or have a special place where I can store all my treasured possessions aka books! As it is, in the place I rent, all I can do is have a couple of bookshelves and …
Hey Everyone!
Welcome back to #3 of our Historical Romance sessions. Today let’s talk about what we love the most about historical romance stories!
I personally love them because they are the “grown up” version of fairy tales: there are princes (or at least dukes ;-)) and fair maidens, villain step-mothers and jealous sisters and of course a love that conquers all. I love the escape HR novels provide from the real world, that for those hours when I’m reading such a book there are gowns and balls and carriages and etiquette. And if I had to pick only one favourite thing from all the things I love about this genre is the fact that due to the time period’s social restrictions the love story between the h/h is even more heightened: every small glimpse and touch becomes more just because liberties aren’t done. *sighs*
Err..ok, …

Today, I’m whisking you all off to Havana, Cuba. Personally speaking, Cuba has always been a place that I knew would have beautiful spots, but was also a country that invoked fear at the thought of visiting. The common knowledge (rumour?) that police walk around with machine guns and the fear of doing anything wrong (even by accident) just made it seem less than appealing as a vacation destination.
To be honest, my inspiration for today’s post, Peggy Blair’s The Beggar’s Opera (I believe it’s Canadian release only so far, but keep an eye out for it), doesn’t do much to allay my fears. It did make me curious, however, to check out the sites. If you all promise to hold my hand, when can begin our tour now:
We’re excited to welcome paranormal romance author Mina Khan to BLI today! She stops by to talk a bit about her childhood in Bangladesh, including one particular summer during which she had a brush with an unexplainable and magical occurrence. Those experiences helped later shape her storytelling and inform the mystique of her tales about djinns! So without further ado…welcome, Mina!

Thanks Alisha & Book Lovers Inc., for inviting me to share my favorite paranormal creature with your readers.
My debut novella, The Djinn’s Dilemma (Harlequin 2011), featured a djinn-human hybrid assassin who falls for his human target and must keep her alive from the bad guys. My second novella, A Tale of Two Djinns (coming out March 2012), is a Romeo & Juliet story involving warring djinn families, feminists & a happy ending! ☺
So yes, I have djinns on my brain. They are part of my story-psyche.
“Djinn,” pronounced “gin,” are …
What a week this one has been! I mean I don’t remember the last time I was so stressed over things and honestly I’m so, so glad that this week has finally come to an end! How were things for you? How was that super cold week for all Book Lovers in Europe?
Bookwise, the week to come is quite rich on new releases and the final week of February I think the best one to come! So, grab a cup of your favorite hot beverage (if it’s really cold were you are!) and let’s see what our Sunday Cravings for this week are!

Welcome back to the café! I hope everyone has had a great week and will be able to find some well needed reading time over the weekend. I keep hearing talk of a “snowpocalypse” from our European contingent, so I hope those of you dealing with it keep bundled up…perhaps even snuggled by a fire with a good book?
There are lots of giveaways listed that go on through to mid-March, but there’s always room for more! In fact, only 4 out of the 24 previously on the list have dropped off, so there’s got to be some awesome odds there, don’t you think? And remember to let us know if you’ve won anything recently; the Book Lovers would love to hear! (I won an audio copy of Darynda Jones’ Third Grave Dead Ahead this past week, which I’m I can’t wait to receive 🙂 ) At …
Welcome to this week’s news post! It is slightly quieter this week, but we have some interesting tidbits about pirate sites being shut down, interview links and books to look out for!
I think this is pretty disappointing but not really surprised by this move, and caused a stir at the TOC (Tools of Change Conference) – Penguin has removed all of its books from Overdrive and is following other publishers who have either removed their books or have placed borrowing restrictions with the amount of times a book can be lent out. However Random House is the only big 6 publisher who has recently said they will allow unlimited lending but has raised the wholesale price for ebook lending to suppliers.
In one of the biggest pirated site crackdowns I’ve seen yet, happened this week. Major publishers as well as indie ones have joined forces and managed to …
Welcome to Part II of BLI’s Kink in Erotic Romance: Guilty Pleasure or Forbidden Fruit?
This week I’m going to be rambling um chatting about:
Voyeurism, Exhibitionism & Orgies…
Oh My!
To try and increase my knowledge before tackling this post I did some reading about voyeurism and exhibitionism from a clinical perspective and was surprised to discover that these fetishes fall under the psychiatric realm of paraphilias which are recurrent, intense, sexually-arousing fantasies, urges or behaviors generally involving nonhuman objects, the suffering or humiliation of oneself or one’s partner, or children or other non-consenting persons. Yikes! Hopefully in the hands of a good storyteller, we don’t find the suffering or humiliation of one’s partner or especially children in erotic romantic fiction. But the key word here is consensual.
In erotic romance, authors are at …
