I tend to laugh it off and joke about it when someone refers to “those vampire books” that I read. (A side note: why is it always “those vampire books”?! Just goes to show that such people don’t know a first thing about that which they speak.)
But really, I embrace being a “genre” reader. When someone is like “oh, that’s not literature, that’s a book (and I was once told this), I’d be likely to say “yup, and I love that book!”

Oh, there’s a bunch of “sports lit” in romance – Susan E. Phillips, Rachel Gibson, Carly Phillips, Marie Force, Sherryl Woods, and just recently I discovered Luann McLane. Just to name a few.
I also just finished Nora Roberts’ Bride Quartet and one of the things I want to blog about is how she wraps each character’s profession into their point of view. I really love it.

I know that most people don’t know about Agency pricing and don’t care, but after it started, I went from spending $150 or so a month on large publishers’ ebooks to spending about $20 or $30 a month on theirs. I still buy ebooks, but now the vast majority of my new book purchases are from Samhain, HQN, established authors’ self-published backlists, or Indie authors.
Furthermore, If I want a book from a large publishing house, instead of buying it new and generating revenue for them, I swap for it on one of the paperback swap sites. The large publishers have lost my business and until they choose to be reasonable about ebook pricing, they won’t get it back.
Congrats hon! Please …

What I love about the first 5 books is the kick-ass story lines. The books are 80% story and 20% sex. After that the percentages flip . I’ve kept with it though, and she is now getting back to the main story arc.

Do I love SF? HAH! The only reason I even started reading fantasy was because the library shelved it with the SF. I am a SF junkie.
I (typically) started with Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern series back in elementary school. But now my tastes have matured (which basically means the covers of the books I am reading now involve fewer chicks straddling the back of a dragon).
Doris Egan’s Gate of Ivory trilogy is spectacular. As is all of Sheri Tepper’s earlier works (not too crazy about her current novel).
I’ve just recently discovered Adam Troy Castro – a lawyer in space. What’s not to love?
If you go more for the lyrical writing styles, and are …

OMG. I thought I was the only one. I could bitch about the cover for hours b/c there are millions of things I hate about it. I think the model is the #1 thing I hate most about the cover! And yes you are corrcet saying that it is too late.I mean it is book 5. If they wanted to change the model, couldv’e done it eariler. I love the other kate. She is kate for me. This new model is not kate. I didn’t get drawn into the series by the covers, I just thought they were okaiexz..but I think MAgic Slays has the worst cover. But again I can whine and moan about how they changed …
