This week we planned something totally new. *drumroll* We prepared a quiz for you. We want to know how much we taught you about covers. *wink* Below you can see 20 little squares with a little snippet of a book cover. We want you to tell us which book it is and who wrote it. You can fill in your answer as you go and enter you name and email addy at the end and there will be prizes for trying to play the game.
We were a bit scared that we made it too hard so we added a little hint for each cove to “help” you along. We swear we weren’t drunk. We’re just nerds.
There will be 2 winners:
One winner of a book (10$ top) from Book Depository chosen at random between all the entries with at least 5 correct answers.
One winner of 20 US$ …
Welcome back to The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me? our bi-weekly cover discussion (<==criticizing-fest).
It’s been a while since we last take a look at what was coming out in Germany. Susi found us quite a few gems to work with. So let’s remember it’s all just for fun and let the cover talk begin.*g*
Caro: Honestly I hated the original cover for Shatter me but I really like the German cover. It’s simple but pretty. I like how her dress seems to melt into swirly things. WAY better than the original.
Lara Adrian‘s cover is ‘nice’ but it’s the kind I would forget in 2 seconds. I like the sensual lips but otherwise it’s a it generic. All the covers in this series are made the same way, I know it’s to give the series the same look but in the end I just end up confusing them all.
The Frost cover just doesn’t …
Welcome back to our biweekly cover talk. This week we decided to talk about comic-like covers. Usually we both don’t tend to buy those because we have the prejudice to shelf them as chiclit and well that’s not our kind of genre. But author’s like Molly Harper proved us wrong so well here we are.
Don’t forget we don’t know all the books we talk about and our judgement is only concerning the cover not the books content.
Don’t forget to tell us what you think in the comments!
Caro: When I look at these 3 covers I’m expecting some chick-lit. Silly story. It’s hard not to think that when I see ‘comic-like’ covers. High Stakes is funny because it played with the Bat/vampire cliché but I’m not loving the rest.
And One Last Thing’s cover actually works for me. It’s not playing on the silly factor and it’s simple. I even like the …
Welcome back to The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me, our little cover haven. Here we let our shallow selves to the surface and we’re not scared of criticizing books we love.
This week we’ll be looking at upcoming releases. Some we are desperately awaiting- others just caught our eyes. So get yourself a drink and join the cover talk.
Caro: *squeeeeee* I am loving the cover of Trapped! Seriously the previous cover was SO fugly I was despairing we would ever get pretty covers again for this series. I am a huge fan of the books and I cannot wait for Trapped. It’s fantastic that Atticus is sharing the spotlight with Granuaile. *squeee* I just wished he wasn’t wearing a deep V-neck shirt *rolleyes*
I love the new Gail Carriger cover! It’s just awesome. It’s stylish and badass all in 1 cover. I wonder who she’s planning to kill with her scissors …
Welcome back to our special Love Letter Convention (LLC) of The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me? You can check out our first post about the convention here. Caro and I are so excited! Next week it’s finally time. *jumps up and down*
So let’s see what shiny things will wait for us in Berlin.
Lisa Marie Rice / Bella Andre
Susi: At first glance I do like the Hot as Sin cobver. The dude is hot but now that I stared at it for a while I wonder about the background. Is it just sunset red forest or is it burning down? And did it rain or is he just awfully sweaty?Well there aren’t any flames- it’s just reddish. *shrug* The I Only Have Eyes For You is cutish contemporary romancy. Cliché and all. I prolly wouldn’t buy it of the cover alone because it doesn’t stand out. It’s …
This week is extra special for the 2 of us. At the beginning of June Caro and I will meet for the first time. *squeee* I mean well in real. We will both attend the Love Letter Convention (June 2 -3 ) in Berlin and meet some fabulous authors. *jumps up and down* So for the next 2 installments we will highlight the covers of the attending authors. As always we only talk about the look of the cover- not about the book and its content. So take a cup of coffee and join the cover talk.
Maya Banks / Larissa Ione
Susi: Historical Romances aren’t my thing but well well, this cover is hot. he dude looks hot and I kinda like the pose. The plaid isn’t as tacky as it usually is on these covers. So I like. The title font is again a bit cliché but I will …
This week we will talk about science fiction and futuristic book covers. I chose some covers of series I read and we will judge the books only by the cover here. In no way does it say anything about the book.
The fascination with the future and the advancement of our life is and proballly will always be a topic where the author’s imagination can go wild and shine. Join the conversation and don’t forget to tell us which is your favorite and which one is not. *wink*
Caro: The good thing with Gini Koch’s Alien series is that you can’t mistake it for anything but Sci-fi. I mean come on…it’s in the title! LOl But apart from the title the covers themselves always show Aliens and Alien technology. Dos Santos never does wrong.
I really like the cover for Unacceptable Risk. It’s edgy without overdoing the sci-fi …
Happy Holidays everyone and welcome to our newest edition of The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me?. This week we will talk about movie tie-in covers. You know, books especially made for promotion of a series or movie release of a novel. We’ve all seen them pop-up whenever a book adaptation becomes a blockbuster or a TV hit! Sometimes it’s for the best, sometimes it’s for the worst. Take a look at our selection and tell us what you think =)
Caro: See this is a good example of how Movie Tie-in covers will be the end of me. I already have the US version of this book and now I am craving the tie-in cover. It’s so vibrant, so pretty. I love it! Not a fan of the UK cover though, she seems way too young. *runs to order the Tie-in cover*
Susi: To Caro’s utter dismay I still haven’t read …
Welcome to this new edition of The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me? This week we will concentrate on efforts on different editions of the same books. As you may have noticed we have a slight cover addiction and our shallowness can be seen in our shelves. BUT there are times even a cover addict has to make a choice. Not only can we choose between pretty and ugly, UK or US but the price always plays a role at times. Or as in Susi’s case a little bit of stupidity (head hangs in shame).
So here take a glimpse at the books we have in shelves- same content different outside.
Susi : These books are a case of Susi going on a book binge without proper caffeination. *le sigh* I bought the first 3 before book 4 was out and I browsed amazon.de and selected them and nearly DIED when …
Welcome to our new edition of The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me? Here at Book Lovers Inc we’re known to be picky cover-wise. Yes this is a nice way to say we often bitch about every tiny details of covers. But sometimes we see new covers and we are left speechless…in a good way. I remember us dedicating a whole post ranting about a Kate Daniels cover and here we are today having a raving post about the new Ilona Andrews cover! We’re curious to see what you think of these covers.
Caro: *squeeeee* I fell in love at first sight with this cover! Wow I mean everything works for me. I LOVE the model they chose, her face screams BADASS, she looks so fierce. I love that. I also love the background with Atlanta smoking. The colors are perfect (yes I love orange). And last detail, the …
