Wilkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome*! This week we decided to stick to our color theme. And with what? Well the best color ever! RED! (⇐ Susi and Caro for once agree on something). It shouldn’t be a surprise that many covers in the romance genre use this color. Well it stands for passion and love (and some other things we will just ignore right now). So it was actually easy to find some covers we adore. So here is our selection. Be sure to tell us what you think.
*(I don’t know for other European countries, but France is plagued by a new ad for a train. Sadly it’s an earworm.)
Caro’s choice:
Caro: I first fell for the cover or Ravishing in Red then I fell for the …
Welcome to our new edition of The Good The Bad and the Are-you-Kidding-me? You must be wondering how we decide on which topic to make each of our post about…okay maybe you’re not wondering…it’s a real mystery to us too! Let’s take today for example…I’m not sure how we ended up deciding we should talk about Yellow Historical covers! It’s a miracle but hopefully entertaining enough. *wink*
On a side note I should mention Yellow is a favorite color of mine *g*
Susi: The first thing I always notice on historical romance covers is the swirly font. They usually all look the same and that really annoys me. I like the contrast of the yellow dress and the blue background on the Bond …
Welcome back! This week we’ve decided to try and take a look at Italian covers. We thought the covers would reflect Italy’s beauty but we were sadly a bit disappointed. Instead of eternal beauty and timelessness we found clichés and well…you will see for yourself. Be sure to let us know what you think about our selections.
Caro: O_O Well first I don’t find the cut out faces to be very attractive in the first place but if you add the weird “hey my make-up is running” part it’s just plain weird.
I like the Nalini cover. The wings are for once original. It’s simple but good. (also i have a secret thing for curly-longish hair on a man) <==that’s a man right? …
Welcome to our new edition of The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me? This week destination Spain! To give you a good picture of the whole scene, we tried giving you a few covers in the same series. We’ll go from UF to Historical Romances. Let’s see how Spain fares in the Book Covers Battle! Tell us what you think 🙂
Warning: This post features dirty women, Boob attacks and plain fugly covers. You’ve been warned
The Kate Andrews series by Ilona Andrews
Caro: What really strikes me is that it’s not the same model for the 3 covers (or at least it doesn’t look like it). I really dislike the cover of the first book, she looks…dirty. That shadow close to her mouth is …
This week will be a bit different. For one thing, it’ll probably be a bit messy because my other half (aka Susi) is not here to get everything organized. *wink* So I thought it was time to talk about pretty covers of books yet to be released. Let’s see what the future has in store for us!
I don’t want to read all those books (well ok I want to read 95% of them lol) , some are books I can’t wait to read, some are covers I just find gorgeous, some I really don’t know anything about. It’s all for the pleasure of the eyes 😉
You can look at it as my ‘Shallow Wish-list of Most Wanted Covers’, based mostly on how pretty or original I find the covers. So here they come…
This week we’re going back to our roots. We decided to highlight different editions of one book and when started looking we discovered how many foreign editions J.R. Ward actually has.
So welcome to the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood (more or less *wink*).
Caro: Us: I like it but don’t love it. It’s a bit bland but not bad. Finland: Is she a bat or something? A crazy bat since she looks to have a straight jacket on (a goth version of it though). 😉UK:I LOVE this cover. It’s pretty and sensual. I love their pose and how they seem to make one. <3German: Beware the bad breath of Wrath. Yes that guy blow fire/bad breath …
This week we decided to highlight some covers who usually don’t get that much of positive attention- ebooks. We know that there are some pretty ugly ones out there but there are also some pretty awesome ones.
So today is all about the pretties! Let us know what you think.
Susi: I so adore this cover. It is just perfect- I love the composition and the way everything just fits together. It just as dreamy and fantastic as the books. So awesome.
So first I so can’ wait for the Petal books and OMG this cover is made of awesomesauce. This will be one of my all time favorite covers. That’s woman just looks awesome and she has polka dots *g* More woman on …
This week we decided to cross European borders and give you…*drumrolls* Japanese covers!
Just so you know, searching for covers on the Japanese Amazon when you don’t know a word of the language is a risky adventure. We finally decided on a few covers from well known authors.
I hope you’ll enjoy this visit to Japan.
Rapture in Death by J.D. Robb #4 in the Death series
Susi: I haven’t read that one yet but I have no idea what the cover should tell me. On what is the violet woman sitting? I have no idea. This cover confuses me- it’s like one of these visual illusion thingies. But I have to say I love how the Japanese title looks but more because of the flow of the symbols. Pretty.
Caroline: Optical illusions fascinate …
Herzlich willkommen to our next German cover post. After last times French sneak attack we decided to take a look at what the German publishing industry has to show.
We have a vast variety of covers this time- some good, some bad and yes we have the third kind too.
Caroline: I will admit that I don’t know Michelle Raven’s books but I’m really not attracted by this cover. I’m not even sure what makes me dislike it. o_O
The Faith Hunter cover is pretty, I love the color and the font. BUT it’s not really Jane. That girl is pretty but I’m just too used to the model on the original covers, a model who looked very Indian. So yeah…pretty but not …
This week we have an unexpected French covers invasion. Caro visited her French amazon site and was bombarded with new, more or less, gems for our post series. Here is what she found. Be prepared for optical illusions, whory lipstick and messy heroines that never change their shirt. Enjoy and please leave us your two cents in the comments.
Susi: I like the Masques cover. The girl looks really mysterious and the wolf has this intriguing look- as if he’s gazing right into your soul. But again really much blue and that’s just not my color.
I’m not really sure what I should think of the Angels’ Blood cover. The feather doesn’t look like an angel feather. It looks so ordinary. Not sure what …
