Welcome to this week’s news post and it has been pretty eventful, with the sad passing of Ray Bradbury, more publishing news as well as new covers/books to watch out for!
The major news this week in the world of publishing was the sad passing of Sci Fi author Ray Bradbury, the author behind Fahrenheit 451 and other classics died earlier this week at the age of 91. Neil Gaiman has written a wonderful article on the life of the prolific and influential author. This year has been pretty bad with the passing of some great authors.
And in a way the news that Harper Collins is preparing to publish quite a few of his backlist books in ebook format over the coming months will be fitting. Although Bradbury was against publishing his books in e-book format but did allow some short stories and his classic Fahrenheit 541 to be allowed to be published, …

Jason Vanderholt, Hollywood’s hottest actor, falls head over heels for everygirl, Chloe Winters, who hasn’t gotten around to watching most of his movies. She becomes the woman every other woman in America is dying to be, but it just isn’t her fairytale.
My Thoughts: Someone Else’s Fairytale by E.M. Tippetts is every girl’s secret fantasy: a gorgeous and celebrated sexy Hollywood actor meets and falls in love with an ordinary girl next door and sweeps her off her feet to their happily ever after, except that in this story Chloe, the heroine not only does not want to be part of any sweeping but she doesn’t even like the hero at the beginning! *gasp* Jason Vanderholt is a fictional Henry …
I’ve remained, for the most part mute about Fifty Shades of Grey and the media frenzy surrounding it and the connecting novels, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, mainly because the first novel of the trilogy wasn’t my cup of tea.
Why didn’t you like it? You may ask.
Well, I found Christian Grey to be a tad too stalkerish for my taste and Anastasia too forgiving of his interference in her life outside of his dominance in the bedroom. The truth is I would have charged the dude with assault and had a restraining order slapped on him quicker then you could blink an eye. The relationship crafted between the protagonists in the novel IMHO is dysfunctional and gave me the heebs. There I said it, I didn’t like the book, in fact it landed in the DNF pile. I have other criticisms of the novel …
