How many of you remember the drudgery of researching at your local library? Thanks to the internet, things are a lot easier now. I do my research, probably like most other writers: books and the internet. However, you have to be careful where you get your information and whether or not it is indeed accurate. Your best bet is to find someone in the field you are researching and ask them to lend their expertise. Most …

Bookish Rants or Raves: What About YA?

Y.A. Books are everywhere these days! From “Twilight” and “Harry Potter” getting to “The Hunger Games” and “I Am Number Four”, Y.A. is everywhere and personally, the sub-genre that most attracts me is Paranormal Y.A. or Sci-Fi Y.A.

To be quite honest I am not that familiar with “regular” Y.A. novels and series like “Perfect Chemistry” and I tend to get tired of Y.A. faster than I used to. I think I have just been enjoying Adult novels more and I try to go back and forth between them so I don’t too tired of either.

However, I do have a few Paranormal Y.A. series that I can’t get enough of, like: Rachel Vincent’s “Soul Screamers”, Richelle Mead’s Y.A. Books, Holly Black’s “Curse Workers” and Julie Kagawa’s “Iron …

Wilder’s Mate by Moira Rogers

Think a vampire-hunting bloodhound is dangerous? Try threatening his woman.

Bloodhounds, Book 1

Wilder Harding is a bloodhound, created by the Guild to hunt down and kill vampires on America’s frontier. His enhanced abilities come with a high price: on the full moon, he becomes capable of savagery beyond telling, while the new moon brings a sexual hunger that borders on madness.

Rescuing a weapons inventor from undead kidnappers is just another assignment, though one with an added complication—keeping his hands off the man’s pretty young apprentice, who insists on tagging along.

At odds with polite society, Satira’s only constant has been the aging weapons inventor who treats her like a daughter. She isn’t going to trust Wilder with Nathaniel’s life, not when the Guild might decide the old man isn’t worth saving. Besides, if there’s one …

Explore This! Saint Petersburg, Russia

Today, our travels take us to a place that has always fascinated me. Thanks to Joy Preble’s new novel, Haunted, the second book in her Dreaming Anastasia series, I was inspired to revisit Russia during the time of Tsar Nicholas II. Though the Joy’s novel takes place in modern times and in New York, the story of the Tsar and his doomed family is one that is very sad and still fairly recent in history. With elements like the suspicious character of Rasputin, the illness of the young son, the deep affections of the Tsar and Tsarina, and of course, the mystery surrounding Anastasia, it has all the workings of an amazing work of fiction.

But, the story of the Romanovs and their ultimate tragedy is all too real. …

“Before Enlightenment, carry water and chop wood. After Enlightenment, carry water and chop wood.”

-The Buddha
First off, let me thank all the Book Lovers for inviting me here today! I look forward to meeting everyone.
Second, I’m not Buddhist, but I’ve always liked the saying above. It gives a good idea of what writing is like. Just substitute ‘publication’ for ‘enlightenment’ and ‘write, edit, write some more’ for ‘carry water and chop …
