The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me?

After working together for quiet some time now we discovered more than once that we share an abnormal love for covers. For us as Europeans we always have the choice which cover we prefer, the US or the UK edition. But we often discover that we love another foreign edition even more. This post is all about that strange obsession of finding the best cover of a book. We also want to find out what you think about the covers and hopefully we will discover that we aren’t the only shallow book lovers in the blogoverse. We will post the results of our survey in the next post.

Around the Bookish World: News Week-in-Review

A new eBook reader developed especially for textbooks, the Kno, is set for a beta program this fall according to mashable.com.  This is a heavyweight eReader at 5.5 pounds!  That’s still lighter than the textbooks it aims to replace though.

The Duke University libraries are now lending Kindles to faculty, staff and students.  I’ve also read about a public library in the US that allows Kindles to be checked out.  If you live nearby to someplace that lends Kindles and you qualify, it might be a good way to try before you buy.

The New Yorker has picked their latest “20 under 40” list of fiction authors.  I’ve only heard of one of them before.

Starting this Sunday, Kindles are going to be sold at all Target stores according to Publishers Weekly.  This seems like a …

Bookish Rants or Raves: Book Snobs!

I have to confess that even though I’ve read my share of Brazilian Literary Classics when I was a kid and that I have also read some English and American Literary classics laster on when I was in college, I have always preferred spending my time with my Agatha Christie collection.

Nowadays, I don’t hide my YA, UF and PNR obsession and I am far from being embarrassed by it, but that doesn’t stop people from turning their noses when i mention the types of book I read.

To be quite honest, I don’t give a damn and it’s none of their business which kind of book I have a predilection for. However, I find ridiculous this sort of snobbish behavior.

I was wondering if any of you guys out there have ever been in a situation where you suffered prejudice for the type of book you like …
