We Need the Punk, Gotta Have That Punk
Soon came a day under skies that were gray
When I knew I couldn’t stay in this ghost town full of
Clones and clowns and carbon copy towns, with
Kine and swine and nothing that was mine,
And this town’s decline with my hatred intertwined,
So I gather all I find and I bolted it to me,
Fueled my fires and I grabbed my pliers, and I’m lit!
I made …
We are very happy to welcome Jenna Black to BLI today! I fell in love with Jenna’s writing when I discovered her Morgan Kingsley series. It’s one of my all time favorite urban fantasy series and yes perhaps I was a bit teary eyed when it drew to an end last year. But now she is back with a new series: her new Descendant series sounds very promising and she is here today to tell us more about them- especially about Dark Descendant which comes out today. Congrats! Please give Jenna a warm welcome and be sure to stay tuned for your chance to win.

This week’s topic was decided after reading a comment from LSUReader on last week’s Romance and Me post. She pointed out how often characters’ physical flaws aren’t shown on the covers. We agree that this is an interesting topic, so this week we’ll be telling you about covers that got it wrong! While researching this topic we noticed that it’s harder than we thought to remember the BAD one sin this case. So please share you’re discoveries with us.
Susi: I actually really like these covers. The colors are so lush and for me they show how I imagine the downside. But for me the girl doesn’t look like Chess at all. She looks too healthy to be a drug addict and her tattoos aren’t runes. No idea what these cover artists think runes …
Today we are happy to welcome to Book Lovers Inc. M.K. Hobson, author of the acclaimed and beloved The Native Star, a unique mix of western, fantasy, steampunk, as some called it a thrilling “witchpunk” novel! Book #2 The Hidden Goddess is to be released in May and Mary kindly agreed to indulge our curiosity and answer our questions. Please give a warm welcome to M.K. Hobson!
BLI: Mary can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
Well, I’m a mom (to both a beautiful 13 year old daughter and a beautiful yellow lab), a wife, and a marketing manager for a large corporation (not necessarily in that order). I love to sew and am particularly fond of historical costuming. And sometimes, in between all that other stuff, I write books and even short stories.
We are very happy to welcome science fiction romance author Marcella Burnard here at Book Lovers Inc today. I discovered her books this year while trying to achieve my goal to read more scifi in 2011 and her first novel, Enemy Within blew me away. So no wonder I jumped at the chance to get her over to our little place of the internet. Today she will tell us about What If’s and what they have to do with writing. Please give her a warm welcome and be sure to answer her question at the end for you chance to get an ARC of her next book Enemy Games.
Do you ever play ‘what if’ games? You know, silly stuff, like what if the Mayans were right and the world ends in December 2012? What would that …
As you may have noticed we two are a bit cover art obsessed and we always swoon about the good ones more than it should actually be allowed. One cover crushing later we thought it would be nice to ask the actually artists behind our obsession about what this work is like.
So here we are- thrilled to no end to welcome Tony Mauro here at Book Lovers Inc today. He’s one of our favorite cover artist and today he will talk a bit about his work. Please give him a warm welcome.

We are very happy to welcome Stephanie Sloane here at Book Lovers Inc today. Her new historical romance The Devil in Disguise will be released in May. She writes Historical romance and today she is here to tell us why she loves a good Rogue. Be sure to answer her question at the end for you chance to win.
Last spring, as I exchanged emails back and forth with my editor about the name for my debut trilogy, I began to really think on just how much weight those few words would carry. A series name is, after all, meant to both describe the books and sell them—in two, maybe three words. That’s a tall order, indeed.
“Regency” seemed a natural fit. Not only are all three of my books set in the Regency period, roughly 1811 – 1830, but the word …

Book Blurb:
Super-Being Exterminator Kitty Katt and the Alpha Centaurian she loves, Jeff Martini, should be finalizing their wedding plans. But that was before she discovers Jeff is in line to become Emperor back on his home world. Kitty knows she is everything a royal family wouldn’t approve of, and is bracing herself for the worst. As it turns out, the royal family is just the beginning. Especially when extraterrestrial Amazonian terrorists are determined to start and end Kitty and Jeff’s nuptial festivities with a bang.
My Thoughts:
Be warned this review is definitely spoiling book 1 and 2.
Alien in the Family was probably one if the most anticipated books of 2011 …
