Abducted by a space pirate, she fights the temptation to let him plunder her goods.
A boyfriend’s attempted murder leaves Megan floundering in the ocean. Sinking without hope, the bright light she sees in the night sky isn’t her doorway to heaven, but rather the beginning of her accidental abduction by a space pirate. While thankful of his rescue, Megan stays true to form and just can’t keep her mouth shut, even when he keeps threatening to kill her–or auction her off to the highest bidder. Even odder, despite her decision to not get involved with her wickedly hot captor, she can’t help craving his touch.Tren retired …
Yay its another weekend and another news post! This week’s post sadly has confirmation of the demise of Borders and some interesting developments in the world of publishing..
I reported a few weeks ago that Borders was heading into complete liquidation and there was no sign of the remaining stores being bought out. Well sadly I have to confirm that this is the case and even more disappointing and depressing is the fact that all the remaining 11000 staff are out of a job. I really hoped that Borders could have been saved but it looks like it it will be a major casualty from this economy and changing publishing landscape.
The publisher, Gollancz has announced that they are going to be reissuing and creating a new ebook library called The Sci Fi Gateway, for out …

My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy — a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody’s head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest.
But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other …
I hope everyone had a great week! This week’s news has some interesting tidbits about new publishing deals and more on Amazon’s new tablet albeit its all rumour.
First up, it looks like the US arm of Borders which has entered into administration is looking like they will enter full liquidation. I don’t really think at this point, that Borders can survive. which is a huge shame.
In a surprising and a worrying move there was an announcement by Ellora’s Cave, that author, Laurann Dohner has signed a 75 book deal with e-publisher. Now this seems to be beyond crazy with that amount of books, especially since many of the established longterm authors such as Cheyenne McCray and Lora Leigh have left the publisher. and I doubt any respectable agent would advise their client for this amount of books. However …
I hope everyone enjoyed their Holiday weekend in the US! This week we have some goodies! They include some hotly awaited books and eye raising news about Amazon purchasing The Book Depository.
The week had started off with the surprising news that The Book Depository has been bought by Amazon, although the bid has been submitted to The Office of Fair Trading (the UK Government body that to oversees any breaches of trading laws) if it breaches any competition rules. Nonetheless, The Bookseller Association is not happy with this move and filed complaints to the OFT that this would increase Amazon’s monopoly in the bookselling market. However, despite this acquisition, there has been statements from execs from The Book Depository that there wont be any changes with the way things are being carried out now via their service such as …
Wow it’s the first day of July – where has all the time gone??? Well this week has been a bit quiet, but we have some interesting tidbits and upcoming book news and once again plagiarism rears it’s ugly head.
But lets kick this off with news from RWA. It has been reported via Dear Author that Berkley and NAL will be embarking on a digital imprint for Romance. They are looking for original submissions that range from 55 thousand words or so and which will be published in digitial formats but depending on the popularity they may also be released in print format. Smaller works will also be considered.
After the announcement last week about Pottermore, it seems some book stores aren’t happy with the fact that the site will be selling ebooks directly to readers. A …
Welcome to this week’s news post and we have a pretty jam-packed issue! The mystery of Pottermore has been unveiled (most guesses were correct!), book news and another YA kerfuffle.
Well, most people suspected that J.K Rowling’s new mysterious site, was an online game/interactive site and is described to be ‘an online reading experience’. The interactive service will follow along the plot of the first Harry Potter book, with the 2nd book adventure sometime in the new year. The site will also host a store that will also sell audiobooks and ebooks that will be DRM free, from the Harry Potter series. There is also promise that it will also offer new content. Pottermore will go live on the 31st of July. [source:Publisher’s Weekly]
Publisher’s Weekly have reported that Mass Market Paperbacks took a huge dive in …
Welcome to this week’s news post! Got some great goodies, like long-awaited covers and upcoming titles, but also some sad news about some beloved authors.
Sadly the start of this week, news broke about the serious illness that author L.A Banks aka Leslie Esdaile Banks is facing. She has been diagnosed with late stage adrenal cancer. I know there is a couple of auctions being held to raise money, but her family and friends have posted up a donations page to help the costs of her rising medical bills. When I hear the deets about the auctions – I will post them here in the next news post.
I would also like to say that everyone here at BLI – is sending the best of our love and thoughts to Leslie and her family!
Update: This is one of the …
Another new week and another friday and even better the WEEKEND!!!
This week’s news we have covers and new books and Apple backing down (I think) about their recent rule change about apps.
First up we have news that Apple have changed their tune about their recent rule change about app subscriptions and that independent apps being used on their platforms. It looks like there will be room for companies, such as Amazon and Kobo offering their own content and links outside of Apple and therefore still provide and sell to customers. More info can be found here.
Borders is selling the older models of the Kobo reader for $60 – check here for info or to ask at your local branch.
