Hey Everyone!
I don’t know what’s the weather like in your part of the world but this past week it has been fricking icy cold here. I’m not talking I-need-to-put-on-gloves cold, but my-fingers-are-frozen-and-I-cant-feel-them-even-in-gloves-after-five-minutes kind of Arctic cold! And as I don’t live in Canada I’m not used to these freezing degrees, especially not during the day (-15 Celsius or even less)! Brr… But today it snowed! And not just some fluffy snow flakes, nope. It snowed and snowed all day, the whole neighbourhood and city is covered in a white fluffy blanket and as I don’t have to get out in the city (the peaks of being in isolation on study leave) I don’t mind that much. Sure I spent most of yesterday’s afternoon shovelling snow so we could get to our mailbox, but in a way it was so peaceful to see all this undisturbed and soft whiteness. If it keeps …
Welcome back to the café! Sadly, we were closed last week due to medically induced forgetfulness, so I apologize profusely. (Darned cold meds!) But now, it’s back to business as usual.
I hope everyone has had a great week and will be able to find some well needed reading time over the weekend. Personally speaking, there never seems to be enough time in the day to get things done, so I appreciate it all the more when I get the quiet time needed to read and relax. It’s just pure bliss!
Now’s the time to list your giveaway and I’m sure that there will be a lot out there that are romance themed. We’re a mushy bunch here at BLI, so we love the lovin’ 😉 And remember to let us know if you’ve won anything recently that you’ll get the chance to read now. The Book Lovers would …

Resurrecting a horrifying and romantic narrative that broke fresh ground for its genre, this soon to be re-released novel sets a vampire story in contemporary Los Angeles—the pleasure dome of late 1990s sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll culture. Unlike the vampires that came before her, Justine does not shun crosses, she watches horror movies on television, and she sets upon her prey in an almost apologetic way, never killing her victims but leaving them unconscious instead. She soon finds herself entwined in a very human sexual relationship with Keith, a down-on-his-luck rock guitarist whose hands have recently been mangled by a gang of drug dealers. Justine nurtures Keith out of …
Welcome to this week’s news post and we have a humdinger of an edition this week. With news of the editor leaving Dorchester who are struggling, Barnes and Noble refusing to stock any books being published by amazon and a slew fest of news on books and new series on the horizon!
First up, the major news this week broke that Chris Keesler who was the only remaining editor at Dorchester has left the struggling publisher. Dorchester has also reportedly failed to pay royalties and other payments to past authors and in some cases caught selling copies of books whose rights have been reverted to the author. I think this is pretty sad because Dorchester was behind a few of my favourite authors and books and I got a funny feeling that it wont exist for long according to what I am hearing about the publisher. But I would also be …

Please give Ann a warm welcome.
Ten years ago if you had told me that I’d have a computer as thin as a kids book with a touch screen I would have told you to stop smoking crack. What if ten years from now you find yourself making a reservation at a 5 star resort devoted to making your every fantasy a reality, virtual reality. Sounds crazy, but with as quickly as our world is …

We talked a while back about the British peerages, but when reading through historicals, we quite often see the French titles mixed in with the British (English?) ones. The reason for this comes mostly from the royal families attempting alliances through the marriages of their sons and daughters.
In my first search through the information, names popped up like “Cleves”, which was the surname associated with the Count of Nevers. It’s also familiar because it was connected to one of Henry VIII’s wives, though Anne of Cleves was of German desent. (Henry VIII was considered to be “King of England, France, and Ireland” so it’s no surprise that his name would pop up, but also because he’s a subject I’ve looked into a lot over the last year :-p ) I’m sure though, that somewhere in Anne’s family tree, a connection would be made to that French house …
