Hey Everyone!
Christmas is almost over (except at our place where due to the extended family we are Christmassing until Dec 29 or so usually :-)).
Sadly my sisters’ exams start early this year so they are leaving today. Our house will be so quiet 🙁 And I’ll have to start studying for my second bar exam as well, so I’m not happy at all that Christmas has gone so quickly. *sighs* At least I’ll have our beautiful tree up until the end of January, as it’s usually my task to take it down and put away all the ornaments and decorations. And you know what is my special traditions? I organize a Christmas un-decorating party! I invite a bunch of friends over, we listen to Christmas songs, drink eggnog, we relish the festive atmosphere in late January/early February and take down all the Christmas decorations together. I …
Shadow Heir by Richelle Mead
Shaman-for-hire Eugenie Markham strives to keep the mortal realm safe from trespassing entities. But as the Thorn Land’s prophecy-haunted queen, there’s no refuge for her and her soon-to-be-born-children when a mysterious blight begins to devastate the Otherworld…
The spell-driven source of the blight isn’t the only challenge to Eugenie’s instincts. Fairy king Dorian is sacrificing everything to help, but Eugenie can’t trust the synergy drawing them back together. The uneasy truce between her and her shape shifter ex-lover Kiyo is endangered by secrets he can’t–or won’t–reveal. And as a formidable force rises to also threaten the human world, Eugenie must use her own cursed fate as a weapon–and risk the ultimate sacrifice.

The author of the highly successful series by Jeff Kinney, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, is suing Antarctic Press because they are publishing a similarly named series called Diary of a Zombie Kid. Jeff Kinney claims that Diary of a Zombie Kid has a similar premise to his own series and that it will cause confusion with fans because they will assume it is affiliated with his own books. Both books share similar titles and covers. Antarctic Press has declined to comment about the lawsuit.

Today, allow me to tell you a bit about a book by author Amanda Stevens: The Restorer. When I read the intriguing book description earlier this year, little did I know it’d end up being one of my absolutely favorite books of 2011. Sure, I was creeped out by the ghosty tale…but I loved every minute of it. The best way to describe this book is “atmospheric.” The language used to describe the environments, the dialogue, the emotions within the protagonist…it’s exquisite. This tale, about a woman who can (unfortunately for her) see spirits, has got mystery, the paranormal, and traces of romance. You will undoubtedly be struck by it long after you finish reading it.
