Welcome to the 2nd day of Book Lovers Inc Advent Calendar. Each day we will offer you one great read in a giveaway on all 24 days till Christmas.

Today you will have the chance to win a book from Suzanne MacLeod‘s Spellcrackers.com series. This year I read and loved The Bitter Seed of Magic (Book #3)  and I decided to share the love with you! This series is a real ‘Coup de Coeur’ for me and I hope you’ll have the chance to enjoy it too. I always say this series has a little something more that other UF series don’t have. It’s hard to explain but when I read them I felt it was different. I’m now completely addicted and I think I can safely say next book is gonna ROCK (*evil laugh*)

My Thoughts:

Koch did it again- with Alien Proliferation she delivers another fast paced and enthralling novel in her Katherine Kitty Katt series. It’s hard to review this book without spoiling the previous ones so if you are behind on reading them I caution you to read on only if you don’t mind spoilers.

Romance and Me: The Small Town Romance Subgenre

Hey Everyone! Welcome to another Romance and Me discussion, this time on our shiny new and very festive site! 🙂 (don’t you just love the snowflakes? They are a favourite of mine!)

Are you wondering what we’ll be talking about today? A sub-genre of contemporary romances that I particularly like, namely: small town romances!

But what are small town romances? A lot of contemporary romances feature a trendy hero or heroine who has a hip job in the big city returning for whatever reason to their small hometown, and hating the small town life at the beginning. Then chapter by chapter the big city big shot character starts to see and value the advantages of small town life: how people are friendly and nice, noone is ever in a hurry, and all in all life seems sweeter and saner. And usually at the end of the novel we see the big city guy/girl …

Explore This! Albuquerque, New Mexico

Today, we’re off to the south west part of the United States, visiting the city that Charley Davidson, of First Grave on the Right and Second Grave on the Left fame, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

When I think of this area, it is the blend of American culture with that of the area south of the border, in Mexico itself. Tex-mex food, mariachi music, and, of course, sombreros. How off base am I? Let’s look at some pics and see:

The Sandia Mountains

The wilds of nature seem not far at all from the city.

The Balloon Fiesta. What a view!

Well, no images of sombreros there, but anyone living in Albuquerque, I’d love to hear if it’s as festive as I imagine. Have any of you visited New Mexico? Can you vouch for it’s worthiness of being added to ‘must-see’ places? …
