Book Blurb:

Daughter of a world-famous motocross champion, and head-on competitor with three brothers, Captain Leah “Princess” Girardi was born with a need for speed. No one tells her what to do, especially not men with chauvinistic “girls can’t be fighter pilots” attitudes.

That’s what ended her brief relationship with Captain Mike “Strap Happy” Templeton. Now, six years later, he’s been assigned to her squadron, and whoa damn, he’s filled out nicely. Plus he’s cultivated a Zen-like chill factor that pulls at her hormones.

Even after four tours, Mike’s the new kid in the 64th Aggressor Squadron. That’s not the …

Guestpost by Zoë Archer: Love Those Cowboys! + Giveaway

Today we are happy to welcome Zoë Archer on Book Lovers Inc! Zoë will tell us about her book Lady X’s Cowboy and why she loves Cowboys. Join the fun and you may win a copy of the book. Let’s give a warm welcome to Zoë!

What is it about the cowboy hero that’s so damned appealing? Why do so many of us love to see them in movies, on television, and read about them?

For starters, the outfit’s pretty sexy. Rugged clothes? Check! Leather chaps that accentuate the butt? Check! Cool hat that casts mysterious shadows over a man’s eyes? Check! And a man on horseback is definitely alluring, especially if the territory he’s riding over is rough and dangerous—but he can handle himself and his mount (heh). Cowboys have to be physically strong to do their work, so you already know he’d going to be fit, …

The Casual Vacancy
by J.K. Rowling
Genre: mystery
Release date: September 27, 2012 by Little, Brown and Company

Description:

When Barry Fairbrother dies in his early forties, the town of Pagford is left in shock.

Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems.

And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?

A big novel about a small town, The Casual Vacancy is J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults. It is the work of a storyteller …

Bookish Rants or Raves: The Big (Bookish) Dilemma

It’s probably safe to assume that many, if not all, of our viewers are book lovers, just like us. As a book lover, I think we all approach our ‘collections’ in different manners. I spoke once with someone that worked in publishing who told me she rarely kept her review books as they just tended to clutter her shelves. I was shocked! How could anyone give away such a precious commodity, right?!

But here’s the thing now: I’m moving. I’m not moving far. In fact, I’m literally moving around the corner from my current place. Regardless of distance, I have to move ALL of my books. At last (estimated) count, there are somewhere between 800 and 1000 books in my small two bedroom apartment (are you all getting claustrophobic right about now?). I will have lots of room once I move but there’s that intermediate point where all of these …

The International Giveaways Café (60)

Good morning all and welcome back to this chilly edition of our bookish giveaway collection. Can you feel it, that imminent moment when Autumn officially starts? According to the Almanac, it’ll hit North America at 10:49am today, though what that means for the rest of the world (and I did try to research it :p ), I’m not sure. But here’s hoping for all of us experiencing the change that we have a few extra weeks (months?) of warmer weather before the you-know-what starts to fly. In the mean time, the cooler temps mean cozy sweaters or blankets that we can curl up in with our books, right?

Remember to let us know if you’ve won anything recently; the Book Lovers would love to hear! At Book Lovers Inc., it’s our pleasure to share the bookish love! Good luck to everyone and hope you enjoy …

Around the Bookish World: Week-In-Review

Welcome to this week’s news post, and we have more news of Agency pricing settlements but in the EU territories, more book news and covers to watch out for!

The major news in the world of publishing and books, is the ongoing saga of the Agency pricing, like their US counterparts, the EU has reached an agreement with four of the big 6 Publishers. Simon & Schuster, Hachette, HarperCollins and Macmillan as well as  Apple will drop the Agency agreement and will allow discounts and special offers and credit points from online vendors. At the moment, the settlement is open to comments and a public consultation over the terms which slightly differs from the US over the aggregate amount of discounts allowed. There is also no mention or an agreement of customers offered a compensation such as in the US.   For more details over the settlement, click here.

The spate …
